Buckler vs Tower shield

So lets here your reasons why.

Personally i have a hard time thinking that the extra 3% avoidance a TS gives you is worth the swap.

I realise the block portion that the towershield gives you but honestly 95% of the time i stay green and my healers find me pretty easy to heal and 90% of the time i only have a templar and a shaman in my group.

So why have so many of you gone tower shield?

Is it because you all love grind?? (jk)

Seriously though i just wanted to throw this out because i want to know the reasons why poeple have taken to a Tower shield.

Here is why i have stayed with my buckler.
I parse 1300 - 1800 ( that was the highest i have hit). Thats alot of hate generated and my raid can just let lose without the worry really of oh oh i am dead.
I dont lose agro to single mobs and i can hold the hate on a group encounter damn well. (unless hate is not on me).
My healers find me easy to keep alive and i have tanked with other guardians that are tower shield speced as well and they still say i am easier to keep alive.
I find it alot of fun to be honest to give the DPS a run for there money and i enjoy taunting poeple when they slack.

So why a TowerShield??

cause tanking with a dinner plate is lame

i'm specced for it though

I notice a difference in buckler/tower in survivability, however the extra hate gain more then makes up for it on 95% of the mobs. Plus the ability to mock the dps under your 1900 is well worth it :D

I actually respec'd to Str/sta for a chance of pace a few days ago for EH.

Honestly, i'm not impressed.

even tho my avoidance is similiar, i still feel like i take a shitton more damage. Sure i parse an extra 300-500 (on average) more. But I cant think that the extra agro gained is off setting the damage taken.

The way this game is shaping, only three encounters matter. Avatars/PHH/Mayong. On those encounters i rarely lose agro, so besides parsing higher on trash, i dont see the benefit of watering down my tanking ability. I'd rather be the best damn tank there is than be mediocre dps and less of a tank because of it.

Either way, i'm gunna try out a different spec or two, but ultimately i think i'll be going back to str/agi.

I'm not saying Sta is worthless, its pretty awesome. But to me, i dont see the need for it as an MT.

This is why i went Sta/Agility I still have the Survivability. And switching out Tower and ToS helps for the tight spots..

But 35k DPS on Trash freaking rules!

Sta line increases your DPS by atleast 500, I can put anywere from 1.5-1.8k zonewides with it and I need that extra agro especially on ae fights. Tower shield benefit is just so weak, woohoooo 1.5% more avoidance! I personally hate avoidance, I take off my call of command and try to lower my avoidance to as low as possible just so I will get hit more so I can generate more agro. I don't have a problem staying alive. My healers don't suck. So why the hell wouldn't I take more dps?

Btw before anyone asks I have 8 points in Gladiators Revenge because when I need my avoidance, I get it. But I find myself lowering my defense/parry in nearly every situation now.

Not sure what thats about.. but i never compared my DPS to Grinds DPS..

Not sure why I need to explain why I said that. I'm pointing out that a buckler is not needed for 35k and beyond Karag. What else is there to explain?

I am Sta 4-4-8-8 Str 4 4 8 7 1. When we first started raiding we only had a Coercer for hate support, so I took that line. I have yet to try anything different.
