I've recently started playing my guardian in raids and have some questions/issues about AE hate control. When I have to keep a single target, I have no problems. When I have to control everything, I can usually do that too. But, when I have to control some of the adds without aggroing the others, I run into trouble.
I thought maybe I could use Plant to get everything, and then recapture the one I don't want so it would go back to the other tank. However, Plant doesn't seem to work on epic mobs.
Is there any way to increase the chance of Plant (master version) landing on epic mobs without being resisted?
What else do you all do to round up adds without yanking the named?
Reinforcement then hit a assault or dragoon spin i think its called thats what i usually use any way
Chrystalline Necro of Nagafen
Thx. Also, I realize that guardians are better at tanking the named and other classes are better at picking up the adds. I just want to know the available options in case I'm in that situation.
Reinforcements plus my greens and blues are what I currently use. If the adds pop away from the named, this works well. If they pop near the named, though, its a little trickier. Also, reinforcements takes a while to cast while the adds are running amok. Once I have better gear, I guess I can reforge some capped stats into casting speed? That would be weird.
if your being used as an add tank i would recommend getting ae auto attack adorns. These will deffinetly make grabbing ae encounters easier and as you ease into the class better swap them back off.
No one is actually reading your question. Don't worry that happens a lot on flames. Everyone tries to interperate what they think you ment.
As a Guardian OT you will find you will ALWAYS have issues pulling the named off another tank when scooping up adds. It is because our AOE hate is all or nothing because we all use Reinforce and Dragoon Spin/Assualt to get them and lock them down. Other tanks dont have issues scooping up adds from us and us keeping the named because our Single target hate gain is intense if you are built right.
The answer is communication. Make a Raid Macro for Reinforce add a tell to your MT if you want so he knows he needs to snap. If you do this ensure you have one for basic Reinforce so you aren't sending the other tank random tells in groups when you both are on and not raiding. Do what you always do and move the fucking things behind the raid 10 meters away and go to town. Your MT should be rolling Singular Focus anyone on Massive add encounters where Co-op Strike is an issue if he/she doesn't he/she is retarded and should be corrected. This method puts the ball in the other tanks court. He/She should have a snap ready for when you come in for adds. You guys should have timers running so you know when adds are about to spawn. Key to beast Tank Cores is communication between one another and you will have no issues.
"It's ok Mr. Troll you can hide behind the little gnome girl's shield. She'll protect you alright."
That's like saying to compensate for the ineptitude of people to drive in the rain... I just drive around every rainstorm that comes up even if it takes me 100 miles out of my way. Sir... with proper warning your MT should be able to pop the Named when you swipe the adds. However I don't know about anyone else personally I feel you should have your Guardian MTing and a Crusader Type OTing anyway. Guards were not designed for OT. Can they do it... yes its all in skill level. Just not given as many tools as other classes is all.

Well under normal circumstances you should never be assigned to tank adds asa Guardian. However if it's an unavoidable situation and you have no choice but to tank adds. Just have your MT snap the name back, there is no realistic way for you to grab AE adds individually. It's just a retarded thing for anyone to expect you to do.
Tell your MT to stop being lazy and coordinate it with you, grab everything, he will single target snap the name back. Done deal.
