    Default Surviving red-text AEs

What do you all typically do when you need to survive red-text AE hits on raids when you are the one with aggro?

It looks like Tower of Stone, Perfect Counter, Last Man Standing, and Unyielding Will are the most reliable abilities to use for this.

What order do you use them in, and when do you call for your healer to death-prevent you? Do you use Block when you know the incoming AE is melee-only? Are there other abilities I'm missing (posting this off the top of my head while procrastinating work)?

Some abilities like Dragoons Reflexes only blocks AEs if they aren't direct. Are all red-text messages direct, indirect, or some are direct and some are indirect?

I'm asking specifically because I may get to tank the War Boar some day soon, and I'd rather look like an idiot here than in raid. You guys are all bastards, but they'll make me cry.

Doesn't really matter which one you start off with, but the cycle is: ToS -> PC -> ToS -> LMS -> ToS, using unyielding will, healer deathsave, or a god spell whenever one isn't up yet if whatever your using it on is faster than around 38s.

Use block after casting every stoneskin, or dragoon's reflexes prior to casting your stoneskin to make sure you have as many triggers as possible. Also, make sure to try and time your stoneskins for right when the mob's cast bar is about full.

You can ae prevent some red messages or stoneskin through them depending on what it is exactly.

If you're going to tank boar all you really need to do is stoneskin the nox ae, and joust when the boar red messages (except the one when he goes enraged from low hp).

don't need to joust boars red AE, its just a stun/pwr drain.

Pretty much what against said. If you have a pulsing aoe stack dragoon with tos/pcs and you can also use LMS if you time it right.

Another tip is reforging into spell reuse. It lowers the timers for all of your stoneskins and you are not dependent on ROA or Defensive Mind.

On boar I am a fan of leading in with Perfect Counter. And Keeping Experienced Insight for when the timer of the AE and the stun happen to stack together. Remember LMS can be cast with 0 mana so its nice to keep that one up if you see the stun/ae are about to sync up. Then like they said before keep cycling the Standards. When TOS or LMS or PC isn't up I use Guardian Sphere combined with a well placed Block. The best thing you can do is use a UI with a NPC cast bar timer in it like drums and put that shit right above the bar with your skins and such so you can be watching for it. Also your guild should be using ACT or Raidhub or some equivalent so you know when the AE is coming in advance. It's all about knowing your cast times so you can land the Skin a split second before the AE hits so a normal hit doesn't eat what you are actually trying to prevent. Practice makes perfect. After a while you will be able to eat a sandwich, watch midget porn and carry on a camcyber in Skype while MTing it will become so second nature to you.
