Default Benefits of having a guild while leveling?

Just as the title states...what are the benefits of having a guild as a low level toon?

Basically, I have a problem...I want to raid.

I was a raid leader/officer in a WoW guild through end-game content including Illidan. I recently quit that game to come this game. That being said, my main interest in MMO's is and has always been end-game raiding.

In wow I was lucky enough to get into a good guild early on when they were nothing, and build/shape them into the endgame guild they are today. I never really had to shop for guilds, prove myself, step from guild to guild as I got better. I helped make the guild what it was, which was fun.

My problem in EQ2 is this: I'm leveling, Im only level 34. I do not want to join a guild that would currently accept me, who doesn't raid. Not because I can currently raid, Not because I don't think it will be good or fun, not because I feel I am "too good". Simply because I don't want to join a guild, use them for a while, then once I get 80 and my epic and all that stuff, just leave them to apply to an endgame raid guild. Doesn't seem fair. I would hate to "use" a guild as a stepping stone like that.

Being an officer in an endgame guild, I recognize that no raiding guild can, should, or has any reason to accept a low level player into their ranks. So am I left to join a lower level guild in the meantime just to leave them later?

If I do, should I make sure they know that is my intention?

Would I be better off just playing the game guildless until I am in a better position to apply to a more hardcore guild?

It would be so nice to be able to use my wow resume as a way to get into a raid guild and have them help me become the player in EQ2 I want to become >.<

What should I do!?

Default Re: Benefits of having a guild while leveling?

IMO, if you have guilt about joining a guild to end up bailing on them later just do this.

join a global or serverwide channel like raid on guk and find whatever your class WW channel is and join that.

Joining those channels will give you something to read while out doing your business.

There are tons of guild who like having people just to have people, and many of the lower level peeps in those guilds would be happy to have an extra person around just for some fun, and if/when you move on don't worry about it.

Personally if i was so motivated to get max level and raiding i wouldn't bother with a guild, i would keep grinding up in levels and once i hit lvl 70ish, i would look around and do as many pickup instances and pickup raids as i can.

The only way you'll get into a raiding guild is if you have previous raid experience (from eq2), the only way to raid other than pickup raids, is by joining a medium sized casual raiding kinda guild. there are several out there.

I can honestly tell you tho, the chances of going guildless and solo to 80 and then joining a raiding guild will be very slim.

What you need to do, is get some more levels, find some regular players around your level and playtime and make some friends...

friends lead to more friends leads to a guild leads to raiding leads to learning eq2 stuff leads to possibly being good at your class leads to the possibility of be a competitor in a major guild.
