Ballads, you are saying two things above that I disagree with you about:

1. You are saying you heard that Scott attempted to give notice, Smed talked him into staying, but now I've somehow driven him from EQ2. That makes no sense. Plus, I don't think his plans have changed.

2. Next, you keep talking about "unconfirmed info". It was not unconfirmed. This was highly confirmed by unimpeachable sources with direct knowledge before I posted it. Therefore, while it may have been UNCOOL of me to post it because it involved Scott Hartsman, it was not irresponsible of me to post it. On the contrary, posting this was highly thought out.

Just a random 2 cents but...

Either this website and the various postings on it are a hobby and nothing more, or they're something that can be used for legitimate journalistic purposes. A journalist is well within their rights to report on any information they get if it's from a reputable source. That very much seems to be your take on this LFG, and I certainly don't disagree with you... But if you take that stance, you can't also say this is just a hobby and a pasttime for you. At that point you've become an actual journalist, citing unnamed sources and reporting on information you've received.

I'd say this website gets more then enough traffic that it can be used/argued as being an actual news outlet.

Here is a possibility...

What has happened...

Scott is in negoiations for a new contract. Smed is taking a "hard line." A close friend of Scott thinks this is highly uncool. Said friend, knowing Scott's general popularity, decides to leak his "departure" to the net in hopes of stirring up ground support. Smed gets pissed because he has been one-upped and now doesn't want to be seen as the "driver" behind Scott leaving.

What will happen...

Smed stomps his feet and stand firm for a bit then offers Scott what it takes to keep him on with SOE, but maybe not necessarily EQ2. Scott looks around and thinks "Fuck it. Smed's initial actions speak louder than words and I don't want to have to go through this shit again." Scott moves on.

The End.

All I'm going to say is right after reading this, and posting my comment, I went directly to the dude this thread was about and got my answer.

It was a regular answer/convo we had, and WITHOUT HIM TELLING ME that this post annoyed him, I could tell it did.

So.. I know LFG has done this before, but I don't understand how he can have 'inside info' and then not actually be friends with these people or know these posts will make them go 'wtf' or cause issues. Or, atleast know 100% the subject of the post won't have issues with the post.

pps.. i still love you lfg, not flaming or blaming you, just voicing my opinion that its weird you get inside info from being close to someone who is close to scott, OR from being close to scott yourself, and neither of you know or care what his reaction would be to this post..

and i know you want traffic to your site, and its your fun hobby and etc. just stating my opinion.

Is Scott leaving EQ2 or leaving SOE? SOE has a number of big projects in the works, and, for example, moving one of their experienced producers to one of these projects makes sense and is really not a huge deal. Scott leaving SOE entirely is another matter. So, do we know what the full story is?

Uh? I saw him once at fan faire and he was with my friend, i don't even remember directly talking to him.

i chatted with him online afterwards. we got in contact in a way anyone can, its not a big super secret special relationshop. obviously its not an inside relationship because this post suprised me. i'm just saying, its easy to contact these people and get a confirmation, or atleast a 'wtf please don't post this' especially if said person has helped you with this website, and your popularity. sorry, i guess if i had a website the producer of eq2 supported, and i talked to him, i would consider him a friend and see what his reaction to a post about him would be before i posted it.
