To an outsider, it makes the MMO community look like it is unable to deal with a mistake with any degree of perspective and maturity. The EQ2 community had an opportunity to present itself well in an issue that is likely to gain at least some exposure in the non-MMO media, but instead came off looking like a mix of rabid dogs and whiny children.

The reports I have seen on websites not specifically related to EQ2, such as generic gaming news sites, did not seem to portray the community as rabid whiny dogs. They do paint SOE in a bad light though so I can see how that might irritate a staunch supporter.
I note your original post was to demonstrate that you do not agree with everything SOE do, yet you still felt the need to point the finger at the wider community reaction to the SOE mistake. That's a good example as to why you might not be a popular poster.
I'm also not sure I saw any twisting of SOE reps words. I saw some very ambiguous SOE posts open for different interpretations. Certainly none of the more contentious have been clarified, particularly that by the new Producer that further incensed 'the community'. That unfortunate post could be interpreted in a number of ways.
With the wide age range of passionate players of this game, isn't it inevitable that reactions will range from mild to extreme?
Happy Trolling here.
