Overall point of the post is that Scott probably didnt leave becuase everything was going hunky dory and he felt by staying he would devalue his earning potential... Get it now?? Lol thats as nice as I can say that... Anyway enough said.
P.S. Scott has a blogg site up Im sure now that LFG "outed" his career change he will respond in some way shortly as I know he reads this stuff.. Scott my post was for you buddy ;)

I'm sorry, but 20 years ago is calling, and wants its opinions back.
You've apparently never been approached and recruited with a much better offer. I have, and get them. When someone offers you a better deal and an upward move, it is often stupid not to take it. Two year jobs are no longer looked down on, at least by anyone I know. It's less than a year jobs that are a problem.
It's a mobile world now, and upward mobility is definitely good for a resume, regardless of time spent in a previous position.

I edited before your reply even came up. I realized you were replying to LFG.
I loved your anti-social remark, then claim you live on here. It gave me a chuckle.

Re: Gallenite leaving EQ2
I've declined superior offers to work on projects I love, but I'll be damned if any of them were computer games (i.e. dream job). That's why this whole scenario doesn't make sense.

One man's dream job is another man's industry.

And what indication was there that this was anything but Gallenite's dream job?

Exactly.
Aside from that there a ton of reasons people leave jobs, even in high paying ones. It doesn't have to have anything to do with devaluing your earning potential.
The upward mobility available might not be inline with where you want to go next, you may just want to try a different field. You may be sick of Southern California. I know I was after 5 years.
At any rate best of luck, and thanks for your work Scott, was appreciated.

None, and I didn't mean to infer that. My point was, just because it is a dream job to one person doesn't make it a dream job to everyone.
Case in point: I believe the position of EQ2 crafting dev is a "dream job" to Domino, the highly competent person who currently holds that position. But I also believe it wasn't much more than a day job to Beghn, the person who previously filled that position.
It's all relative, one person's dream job is clock punching to another.
