If they had not been sold to whites and shipped overseas, they still would have been slaves to the conquering tribe, and would have been so badly treated they ALL would have died. I say it was actually a good deal for those slaves to be sold to America. Not only was their mortality rate lower but their descendants got to live in the greatest country on earth.

Though I do have to admit that in the west university part of houston (which used to be the rich part of town), there were neighborhoods with deed restrictions that said no blacks could live there. I believe those deed restrictions were finally declared illegal in the 80's. I usually use that story as an example of how ironclad deed restrictions are and why i hate them so much, but it works here too.

Just a minor point here. It was reconstruction that introduced the racial tensions. BTW, show me a record of the man who owned another man for 250 years. Not even back in old testament times when people lived 900 years. (because back then the jews had to release thier slaves every 7 years)

Sorry if it sounds like I'm picking on the South, but its much more alive down there. That example I gave was a true story, my cousin and I were going to visit one of his friends in Atlanta, and when we stopped at a dinner in Georgia for some food, on the way out a few people got up and stated "******, your not welcome here". Maybe they thought we were Nigerians and made a fraudian slip, who knows.

Ask someone one who lives in upscale Manhattan what they think about nyc and they'll say "It's the most beautiful place on earth". Now ask someone from Red Hook in Brooklyn what they think of nyc and they'll tell you "This place is a fucking slum". That person from Manhattan won't realize or even hear about the majority of things that take place in Red Hook. Same concept.
