I'll never forget, when I was in law school, talking to an exchange student from Russia. He actually told me (and meant it) that he preferred socialism over capitalism because under socialism, the government provided everything for you, and you didn't have to compete. He didn't want to compete, he just wanted everything handed to him, and he thought that was perfectly normal. He also said that most of the people he knew from Russia felt the same way, it's how they were brought up.

If I were Hoss, I wouldn't have cited the Jena 6 to illustrate black misrepresentation and sensationalization of questionably racial incidents. I would have cited actual cases where incidents were misrepresented and/or sensationalized for the personal aggrandizement of various public figures and/or TV ratings.

Like, say, the Tawana Brawley incident, or the Duke Lacrosse incident.

But that's just me.

Racism is a hotly debated topic and some people will always try to exploit it to to fit their best interests, but I still stand by my stance that racism is still very much alive today, and that Hoss needs to spend sometime outside of that constructed world he lives in.

::shakes head:: Wow your quick to misinterpret. I meant in terms of some public people using these cases to further their agendas. I understand how some people use the race (or reverse race) card to exhort monies from others or get away with things they have done.
