Actually Mel got alot of flack for that movie as history tells a different story of human sacrifice in Mexico and Central America during the movies time period. The Mayans were actually not known for mass sacrifices as the movie suggests. That was actually the Aztecs. But I'll admit I am no expert on that culture, this is just what I picked up when the film came out and the outrage expressed by many Mexicans of Mayan descent.

Lol that you know your history very well if you think the jews are the ones who had it worse in germany. The jews only had more money at the end and enough of them bribed there way out to cause the biggest uproar about persecution. There were more Polish people that were killed than any particular group if i remember correctly, and if you go down the list of why folks were persecuted you will find several other groups with higher numbers of losses above Jews.

How about the killing fields in Cambodia? Ancient Egypt was no picnic either, and Apocalypto ends with the beginning of the devil himself walking onto the beach. It only got worse for people down there once Cortez the killer showed up.

The reason why these incidents being hoaxes are relevent, is because those who voiced outrage and rushed to the aid of these "victims" did a couple things:

1) Continued to voice outrage when privately they knew it was all bullshit. They continued to sensationalize and purposefully create racial tension for two reasons: cameras and microphones.

2) After the true circumstances came to light, these same people skulked away instead of I dunno, answering for, and perhaps correcting some of the harm that they themselves caused by their actions.

And it's not a consensus. It is fact. Nothing happened in either case.

In all fairness, we were not asked to provide EVERY example. I think we were asked for one. I think I should be commended for going above and beyond, personally.

That answer was tongue-in-cheek more than anything. After the Passion, I'd hardly quote a Mel Gibson movie as being historically accurate.
