since people are talking about how much
he was selling the master for and that it
was gouging my question is what was disso
selling the eh stuff for? How much were
they selling ridgid scale bows and vine wrapped
for? If it was anything over 20 play or so then
you can't claim that he was proving a point to gougers
and is a hero to the masses. Yes I know he never said that was
his reason but others have.

We never sold any rigid scale bows. And we sold barks for around 30p. Which compared to most other servers, is pretty cheap.

Gouging is subjective. We've seen that here already. Although it may make for an interesting side topic somewhere, gouging isn't the topic. Stealing from dumb retards is the subject.

I wonder if it was someone who WASN'T in Disso, if this would have been that big a deal...

It probably went down like this...The person put the master in the window, saw 100pp go into Cochy's, splouged in his pants at his good fortune, and hit accept as quick as he could.

If I'm trading for something, whether it's 1pp or 100pp, I always look at the window closely. Not just the contents involved in the trade, but the window itself. I have had a couple people try to pull the duelbet scam, and because I took the extra 5 seconds to look at window, didn't fall for it.

Does it make it right. Definitely not. But there have always been, and will always be, people who will look to do shit like this. I hope that this whole event coming to light educates people about this type of scam, so the next person doesn't fall for it. It's not the same situation, but I made a similar fuckup by clicking OK before I looked my shit over. Back when farming Poet's, I got a Surging Tempest M1. I accidently put it up on the broker for 30g instead of 30pp. Needless to say it got bought within 30 minutes. I learned two lessons; #1 Make sure I look shit over before I hit accept/OK/agree to it; #2 Don't manage my broker when I'm stoned out of my mind.

In eve-online scamming is an approved activity as long as it doesn't cross certain boundary ie. exploiting game bugs etc. Even there however, you cannot cross a certain line with escrows and for example, any trade that's initiated on the official game forums.

What Cochy did here would be perfectly fine in EVE-O, but in EQ2 it's a no-no. First blatantly abusing bugs to get to 80 (then getting a weak slap on the wrist), now abusing fellow players to master out. GG Cochy, we see a pattern.

Well you're at war with the software development universe if every useful feature has to wait until every single bug is fixed.

And I'm guessing you have "no opinion" on website phishing, which uses the same basic principles being discussed here. Fun and games on plat pharmers who can burn in hell for all I care, but turned against legit players it becomes a major problem.
