Katrina hit Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio and Kentucky directly. Indirectly the storm spawned fucked up weather from the Atlantic to the Mississippi and the Gulf beyond the Great Lakes.
How many "poor people died because they failed to evacuate" in Florida? And I don't mean how many died period (14). FFS, 2 died in fucking Ohio.
Katrina and New Orleans and death are linked. They are as commonly used as the word "decimate" has come to mean destroy rather than literally "reduce by 1/10th."
