If someone breaks the rules, they shouldn't be fired?

As the senior programmer for my software company, if one of my devs did this, I wouldn't think twice about firing them. They knew the rules and they broke it. No a wink of sleep would be missed.

Now, having to fire because of downsizing isn't cool or fun..that's when I go home feeling bad.

So someone got a special favor. Here is a nugget princess, if people getting special consideration and favors yanks your panties this bad, then lock the door and shutter the windows because you will cry in the outside world.

Beyond this guild transfer, i am sure there are special exceptions and waivers and supervisors looking away in eq2 all the time.
It is their game and sony can do whatever the fuck they want, regardless of the rules.


Now for the rest of the people on test or any other non transfer server, if you are expecting sony to drop their policy and just let anyone go now? Don't hold your breath. Again, that stems from sony gets to do whatever sony wishes.

Does it really amount to anything other than a fart in the wind? Not much as far as game play and balance. A little but not a lot.

However for the fact of other people locked on servers that they "can't" transfer off of, like PvP servers with broken mechanics, a dead and pointless test server, to those people it could mean a lot. Its obvious it can be done, and was. Make it available to everyone or send those fuckers back to their home on Test.

It depends on how empowered you make your employees. If as an example, the dev that transferred the test guild off knew his limits and was in them, then he is ok. If they have a written doctrine saying that it is strictly forbidden under any circumstance, then they broke the rules.

What i was referring to is an employee doing what he knew he was allowed to but sony covering their tracks to avoid public embarresment and sacking him.

The first step on the road to corruption is special favors. Societies that readily accepted it as business as usual ended up falling into a dangerous road.

On a trip to Russia last year, I was stopped by a traffic cop. The Russian that I was with gave a wad of cash and we went on our way. I asked him why he did it instead fighting the ticket. Afterall, we didn't do anything wrong. He said that it's business as usual. Everybody does it and I just need to get used to it.

It may happen but I don't have to be quiet about it. They laid out the rules and I've played by them for almost 3 years. Two rules have been broken, 1) no transfers off test and 2) transfers cost $50.

I'm not one to stick my head in a hole just because this is considered business as usual.

No one can force Sony to do anything. But as customers, we can question their honesty and integrity. Afterall, I give my credit card to them to charge once a month. I'd like to know that all their employees play by the rules.

One time a GM restored my planar ear of the wanderer after I accidentally picked the "of the warrior" one and vendored it.

Also who cares. Being/Feeling accomplished in a world of pixels that can disappear at any time at the desire of the company who owns it kind of makes me sad for people playing who devote so much of their lives into it.

If you're not playing for fun and moderate social interaction then it's time to go outside and take a long walk off a short dock cause only one world counts and that isn't Norrath (or any other fantasy one! ;O)

Simply because it is a game. Games have rules.. hopefully impartial ones.

So, halfway through a checkers game, Referee Huck decides Billjoe is deserving of a break, and declares Full Contact Checkers.. but only for him. Your next move Billjoe gets to hit you upside the head with a brick. Fun? Fair? Its only a game, who cares, right?
