Nothing nefarious here. Someone was trying to do something nice for some Test players. There was no conspiracy, it was just not thought through as well as it might have been. We are discussing what to do with the characters, but we do know that it is very time intensive and is not something that we can open up for all Test players at this time.
No, Scott, AKA Gallenite is not being fired over this. He is heading off into the wild blue yonder to do his own thing and we wish him the best of luck. I hope someday to play a solid game put out by his new team.
No, Grimwell did not provide favors for his Test center guild. He played there for a short time to get better aquainted with some fan site operators who were also in that guild. He currently plays on AB with me. =) No I won't tell you his character name but he is a lowly noob compared to my level 75 greatness.
This was an act of kindness gone awry. More to follow.

P.S. The only reason I did not respond yesterday is that the entire company was off site for our annual town hall. It was a hoot.

I quoted my previous post above to explain what I'm about to say next.

What I said above is that "I've been told by several people that Scott did X, Y, and Z".

I did not say it was the God's truth, because I lacked higher level confirming information.

Scott has contacted me privately, from his email I quote:

I apologize to Scott Hartsman for any misunderstanding or harm I may have caused him by posting what I did above. In the case of what I posted regarding his alleged involvement in the moves from Test to Unrest, what I posted was rumor, and I never presented it to be confirmed fact.

I've known Scott Hartsman since the first EQ2 Fanfaire. He has always been 100% truthful, straight up, and honest with me. He has gone out of his way to do cool things (above board, all of them) for people on this site on numerous occasions. And he has always done everything possible to make sure we were included here, at times when nobody else would give us the time of day.

So I thank Scott for all his past friendship to me and the users on this site. I will categorically state that based on my past dealings with him, he is is far more credible, and I believe him much more, than any players I've received information from during this drama.

God speed Scott in your career move, and I hope this small drama hasn't tarnished your great accomplishments in EQ2.

What remains unknown then, is who engineered these transfers. Hopefully, more will be incoming on that soon.

How much you want to bet that if they haven't already that by the end of tonight all of the copied toons plat and non-attunable gear, etc is moved to the chars they actually created on unrest, or dumped into the economy in the form or a buying spree for those same toons...

If they get deleted then it's no loss, and if they don't...well...their alts are all sitting on it for them to transfer back.

Win-win for them. Lose-lose for the economy/rest of the population on Unrest.

For the same reason I've been banned on WoW forums and other official forums like 100 times for nearly nothing but causing some people to get butt hurt by questioning changes in game play.

Cause they can and they'd rather not have to listen to someone who might potentially get other people to be all "RABBLE RABBLE THEY TOOK OUR JOBS" riled up and such.

We have not yet decided how we are going to resolve this. I appreciate your suggestions but we are still discussing it. When we have a course of action, I will let you know.

Do I think this was the wisest decision? Nope, but what's done is done and now we have to resolve it. I can understand that this was a decision born of kindness and move past that and now look for resolution. People make poor decisions all the time. It is an unfortunate part of being human. Should they be crucified for it? Nope, there will be no publi be-headings here. But that does not mean we should not work to correct the decision.

This is what we are discussing now, how best to do this.
