This is a scandal which could have long-term ramifications for the future of this game. You might as well stick a fork in the Test server now. It sounds like it's toast. Just do yourself a favor and make it one of those cheap plastic ones you get with your meal from KFC cause otherwise you might end up looking like some schmuck from a Flock of Seagulls tribute band. But I digress.

The name is a blatant violation of SOE naming policy, just as the actions of the Test guild in question were a blatant violation of the Test server policy. What was supposed to be a covert, on-the-sly coup on the part of someone who called most of the shots on a server where people put up with bugs, crashes and who knows what else every day for three years turned into a scandal which is driving people away from the game in droves - not to mention making those involved here look like a bunch of short bus cretins. And who broke this story? Here's a hint: His in-game persona sounds an awful lot like LFG and he happens to run this here message board.

How could that surname NOT be a swipe at LFG for bringing corruption of this magnitude to light?

Not worth quitting over, but I damn sure would have gotten an E-Mail trail and memo documentation of just who "Ordered" me to violate company policy re Test moves to Live. Corporate environment FTW, give a suit a chance and they will sell thier own mothers out to shift blame.

I know who broke the story and his name So I can very well see that the probability that you are right is very high lol. I did state that in my post. I just wanted to mention how I first seen it, thats all.
Would be a very odd coincidence if I was right and I do realize that.

And for the record, I don't in any way side with the players or SOE pricks who condoned what happened.

I agree, people who are stating honor and dignity blah blah.. well thats a bunch of bullshit. Not that I don't think these are good qualities and not that I don't have either.. but when it comes to keeping a job.. that puts food on your table and a roof over your head, you do what you are told to do. Plain and simple.

A nice high paying job with security is a must have, and if you are talented enough to get one of these jobs I would guess that you would do near anything to make sure you kept it. Even if it was doing something you were ordered to do even though you knew it was wrong.
And before people get the flaming stick to start beating on me with, I am not talking about law enforcement here (or any other job where this would definitely be different). This is a programmer writing code... that effects... cartoon characters in a computer.
Not discounting the fact that RL people are effected, but please.. its not like this is life or death.


And as was quoted, all you would have to do to prove your innocence was keep a paper trail. Make sure you kept records of everything and even your own records of how you felt it was wrong and were abiding by your bosses wishes to keep your job.

Actually, by what LFG wrote, the very fact that the person questioned and initially refused to do the copy work means that whoever ordered this was fully aware that this was a violation of policy that could generate problems and went for it anyway. Kind of blows thier "simple act of kindness" spin out the window.

Also, this means they can't spin this as a misguided act of a singular GM or QA person unaware of the big picture.

This just gets more appalling as I find out more.

Sounds like more deletions needs to take place on the Unrest server.

Still sounds like SOE is trying to play favorites -- sure they got rid of Luckyx' and Dysisx's stuff on the broker but I think they did a less than complete job of removing these illegal character transfers.
