A little late, but:

A lot of people on Test were vehemently against copies from Live servers and one of those people was Lucky. Can't vouch for the other UT people and don't have logs or screenshots to prove any of this, but the prevailing attitude was that if you couldn't be bothered to take the time to level up the hard way on Test, you weren't wanted there.

And what reasoning would they give? They'd talk about how copies would just spend their time playing around and not doing any actual testing. Sure, there's a large amount of truth to that, but guess what? If you're one-shotting epics, especially on a regular basis, you sure as fuck have no right to look down on others for playing around. Especially not while patting yourself on the back for your contributions to the game. (Apologies to those who never exploited, your integrity is still intact, though you might still want to reassess your attitude if you're one of the purists.)

Since forever, Test has been treated as this holy enclave where none not of the Test faith shall ere intrude, and then, BAM: a select few (including one of the biggest, most hypocritical shit-stirring dickweeds) get copied the other way because, guess what, it wasn't the paradise they'd dreamed of? Every single time I went over there (and I gave a serious try to becoming part of the community once), I saw so much crap brought up about how Test should never be ruined by slimy Live playing leeches. Yeah, just a little hypocrisy here.

So fuck all that shit. Use this to open Test to copies like should have been done years ago. Offer the people who leveled up there (accounts older than a few months?) a few months free play, a free transfer off with SE-style restrictions and start wiping the server regularly. Sure, some will say it's a little unfair but a) they can take their precious community with them elsewhere, and b) will still be able to do all the testing they want by getting themselves copied back. They'll even be able to do it better because they'll have the advantages of larger server populations and possible membership in legit raiding guilds.

If what they want is a gated community and regulations for membership, too damn bad. That's never what Test server should have been anyways.

Wanted to read the WHOLE thread before I commented.

First off, it's pretty shitty that that coder tried to do the right thing and got shot down from upper management. I know the feeling and it's happened to me in my job (I do Problem and Incident management for a major bank). I would done the same thing in his shoes, telling them no, but unfortunately for my job security, would have done what I was told when it came down from high above.

Second, I feel sorry for the impact to Unrest. I know if it would have been my server they came to, I would have been extremely pissed off about it.

Third, I find it funny that this Lucky guy has to balls to brag about one-shotting epics and all that shit. My guild is one of the better ones on Nek atm, and I enjoy and know we've earned every piece of gear and every kill on every mob we've ever brought down. I just don't understand what the enjoyment of going into a zone and using an item to totally take any challenge and enjoyment out of raiding. Ironic though, he hasn't said a word in this thread in the last 600 or so posts.

Finally, it really does confirm my lack faith in SoE Customer Service. Now there are a bunch of good devs and CS reps (Domino comes to mind immediately), sometimes it's just frustrating playing this game when you run into a problem. Next time you file a petition and get the shaft (either the working as intended reply, or there is nothing we can do at this time, or whatever response where they say they can't help) just think back and remember that over the course of two days, they put in enough resources, whether it was one coder or many, to move nearly 100 toons from Test to a live server.

I've quoted Kwoung several times above. Kwoung owns eq2test.com: Everquest II Test Server :: Index, the Test server private forum site.

Kwoung has been highly critical of me for starting this thread, and claims I did so for personal gain. Kwoung has also strongly defended UT getting moved from Test to Unrest.

Kwong is the biggest hypocrite in the universe. Read his interview by Aggrome from a while back to see what I mean:
