But let me point out the flaws in your words.

When someone doesn't something so egregious that it harms many people and leads to a large amount of trouble, their name should be revealed.

You really want that person to pay a price in their job for what they have done. You don't want them in a position to do the same act all over again and if their name is never revealed they are left in a position to repeat their actions. That person should lose their position -- maybe even their job -- but in any case they should be transferred to another post where they cannot NEVER be in a situation to do this again or even have contact with the public. That person should be prohibited from playing the game again. A record should also appear in the employee's records so that when they transfer jobs this is known by any future employer. This person is corrupt and a cheater. They should pay the price for their actions. And don't say this is just a game -- it is a business and in business ethical failures are costly.

Of course you can do what you choose with the information -- I am just saying that I don't think your choice is the best one and certainly not one I would make. But perhaps running a fansite does limit and curb your activities or SOE would cut you off that would be unfortunate as your site serves a valuable service to the EQ2 community.

Also - something for which not enough attention has been given is the question of player bannings. Now SOE does ban players for serious violation of game rules. Given this fact how can they allow a player like Lucky to continue to play the game and run a guild??? It boggles the imagination why he has not been banned from the game.

But he's a valued member of the testing community who's been unjustly attacked by the community for an act of kindness and benevolence by SOE that he earned through his extensive testing and contributions to the game during the time he spent on test. Why should he be banned?

Oh that's right, it's cuz he's a braying asshat who exploited/abuse GM powers, "accidentally" looted a mythical item after GMing matron to death, conned an SOE exec to copy most of his guild over a live server contrary to company policy, copies done without individuals paying the normal transfer fees, done manually by a dev taking away 2 days of coding time from them (meaning who knows how many bug-fixes got pushed back several days due to the lost work of the coopted dev) and got emo butthurt when he got caught doing something shady and blames the whistleblowers for his own failures.

Ahhh well, at least we have some new whipping boys in level chat...

All naming names will do is satisfy some people's need for drama. That's it. Frankly, it is none of your business. I realize you think you are entitled to know intimate internal company details but you don't.

You pay a fee to play a game. If the makers and owners of the game do something wrong, you do not have the unconditional right to know every detail. If you don't like that, you can quit.

I'm responding to Gojira_Shipi-Taro's post here, because my account is inactive and I don't have access to the official forums:

First of all, Gojira_Shipi-Taro, you fucking moron, if I am not satisfied with a service or am dissatisfied with the company providing me with that service why the fuck am I going to support that company financially? I'm not. Why the fuck would you, Gojira_Shipi-Taro? Why would you suggest that my indignation is wrong, or childish- unless you're a passive cocksucker or something...are you a passive cock sucker, Gojira_Shipi-Taro?
I don't need to play this game- I have a social life that does not require logging into my EQ2 toon. I have not lost any sleep since I canceled my EQ2 account, nor did I have qualms about uninstalling the game from my computer.
Now, if I were you, Gojira_Shipi-Taro, who relies on this game to get laid- I might think twice!

It's time to lock this thread. I do not want, by any means, any of you to consider this to mean that you should not feel or think the way you do about the situation. That said, continued conversation is just beating a dead horse. Something happened that should not have gone down the way that it did. It was noted and reacted to, and the team gathered together and decided our best course of action to rectify the issue.

Now, at this point, the best course of action is to focus on the continued development of EQII with clear notes about the learnings from this particular chapter. I hope you all can understand that need, and join us in it. Thanks.
