So in other words - instead of the apology we were hoping for that would have smoothed things over and saved several accounts I am personally aware of - SOE has taken the "no comment" approach?

That makes things a whole easier for me in terms of reaching a decision.
Now I will not only cancel my account but will also be writing a formal letter to the head of Sony.

and whats really sad about the whole thing is that gives them a perfect excuse to ban people as re-opening a locked thread is a bannable offense.

regardless of my own personal feelings about SOE allowing a move from Test to Live , SOE has handled this whole thing abysmally. Grimwells response after 3 days of no response from SOE at all (think last comment was on 12/14) being lets just move on, seems to be an extremely naive read on the depth of community anger. Course on the flipside they just may not care.

It's time to lock this thread. I do not want, by any means, any of you to consider this to mean that you should not feel or think the way you do about the situation. You can feel or think whatever you want - as long as we don't have to deal with it. That said, continued conversation is just beating a dead horse. And by continued conversation we mean of course the one-sided responses from you. Since "we" have nothing more to say it isn't actually a conversation. :-) Something happened that should not have gone down the way that it did. FINALLY! An admission! I do believe this is one of the the first times this was actually said. 1 out of 3 required pieces of the puzzle. It was noted and reacted to, and the team gathered together and decided our best course of action to rectify the issue. Like I said - one piece out of the three most of us feel are needed.

Now, at this point, the best course of action is to focus on the continued development of EQII with clear notes about the learnings from this particular chapter. What have I learned? Insulting or inflamatory comments made in one direction result in bans and/or locked threads. Insults made toward US - the customers - to the point where several ask for a simply (sincere) apology however are not forthcoming. I hope you all can understand that need, and join us in it. Thanks. I'd love to join you in learning from this experience.
To do so there needs to be some CLOSURE - repeat after me - closure.
Let's explore what we can learn -
~Someone needs to come and say "This won't happen again".
~Someone needs to come and say "I am sorry we insulted a valued portion of the community."
Yep - that about covers it.

They must be actively monitoring gameplay and unrest server forums for new posts on this topic.

My new post in Unrest server forum for the official forums "Unhallowed Triad recruiting new members" didn't last 15 seconds before it was removed. But I did get my first Private Message from Echgar. What a sweet person.

Too bad they waited until 5:45pm central to be this active. They SHOULD have been on here two days ago and issued an immediate apology for their apology.

I'll go back on Friday at midnight and post a copy of the letter I'm writing. :-)

The story's starting to appear elsewhere on the web now, it seems. My bf linked me the Massively.com story, mostly accurate, and something from earlier in the thread caught my attention, and I went to look -- someone dropped the story to Slashdot over the weekend, it looks like, although it's just in the Firehose.

I knew they'd lock the official thread when it turned to pure mudslinging, but I had naively hoped for something better than, "We're not going to talk about this anymore. Look, bunnies!"

Some of us from Test re-rolled on another server last night (the vote, predictably, was for "anywhere but Unrest"). Don't know how long I'll stick with it, seeing as how "valued" we are as paying subscribers. *shrug*

I mostly just don't want SOE to get away with having its senior producer laying a guilt trip like that. Businesses that want to be fawned over for insulting their customers make me twitchy.

My suggestion is that if you quit silently no one will know why. Quit and send a letter. I plan to. As soon as I finish writing it I will post here. And over there as well actually.
