What the fuck happen to, "The customer is always right." concept? As goes for any management trying to run a successful company. I remember working at fast food and when some people were dissatisfied, they sure fucking let the manager know in the harshest ways sometimes. No matter how aggressive a customer got, even to the point of swearing and being bluntly profane - the manager keeps a rational tone, tells him what he can do to help his problem and will work to satisfy the customer even if everyone in the business is saying under their breath "what a fucking moron this guy is being.", they don't lose cool and tarnish the tone and 'image' of the company as far as customer concern. As a company you are to take the highest praises and the lowest blows as learning experiences and you use them to hopefully improve your product. I would be suprised there isn't a formal apology from a higher power within the company and an instant firing of the people who turning THEIR PAYING CUSTOMER BASE against them. If it was me I would be beyond furious if someone I hired pulled a stunt like this with my company name.

But ya know what - go to a restaurant and see an angry customer. Then see the manager say back, "no fuck you guy, we are done listening to what you want." That manager would be fired so fucking fast by the powerful person who holds positions greater than their own. You, at your own humility do NOT act out the way they did and drag a companies name through the mud, that is unacceptable on almost all levels of running a successful business. Cause ya know what? Even the people who disagreed with the lunatics raving in the first place, now side with him after they saw a company tell a customer "fuck you we don't care about your input" because they indirectly feel disrespected and sickened to keep paying them. Of course to close this anology, its hard to stop eating at a restaurant where you used to rave about having the most amazing dishes and meals ever, and despite your anger. All you want is for them to return to the state they were in that made you fall in love with the product(s) in the first place. It is SoE's turn to realize that going against your customers is a lose/lose situation and you need to suck it the fuck up and make something that the consumers want, or step the fuck down and retire your product.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out - though I think things will be generally the same. Any Dev with a brain knows their most useful insight is the direct customer feedback, and may even continue to visit the site through personal PC's and access, unless they enjoy working blindly on a product. Hmmm, actually nvm I'm starting to think that is just their way of doing things.


Good thread, good times, grats community for showing the true power of the consumer. This shows what you get in any scenario where you disregaurd your customers interest.

I hope my friends at SOE will continue reading this site. I also hope they understand that I've done nothing disloyal to anyone who hasn't attacked me first. I again say that I'll never break any promise or reveal anything that was told to me in confidence with an agreement that it wouldn't be disclosed.

I've only expressed anger and talked about two people in this situation - Grimwell and Aeralik, because I feel like I've been betrayed and double dealt by both of them first.

When a man is forced into a corner and left no other options, he will fight for survival. That's all I've done in this case on behalf of this community and site.

My motivations have zero to do with advertising revenue or the future viability of this site - I don't need the money. In all matters underlying this drama, my motivations have been strictly honorable.
