The draw of a game like this isn't just the content. In fact, the bigger draw is the community; people who grow dissatisfied with the content might stay on for ages because of the community. However, this doesn't mean the content is irrelevant, it's the grass beneath our feet. If it grows brown and crusty and painful to walk on and the people responsible for its care just don't care anymore, no matter the awesomeness of people we're walking with, folks are going to want to move on for greener pastures.

This latest move by SOE isn't just severing ties with LFG, it's showing that they completely disregard their community. Not that this hasn't been an ongoing problem, but there has been a lot more wrong with the game right now and a huge lack of attention from the people in charge. To slap the community in the face like this is driving people away for good like mere neglect of the content couldn't do alone. Even those of us willing to stay for a while longer will rapidly have less incentive to stay the more the people we hang out with take initiative and leave.

I understand the community aspect of this game. I really do. But I have other social outlets in life. I can still talk and communicate outside the game with the folks I meet in-game.

The amount of disdain and contempt SOE shows for the customers is incredible. Its not just EQ2. Its EQ1, SWG, Planetside, EQOA, et al. This appears to be their company mantra. When will people get this? What will it take for people to finally walk away? Do you need Smedley to email you personally stating:

Dear Unvalued Customer,

We expect you to continue paying us a monthly fee that we will be increasing soon. reasons for the increase are for no other reason than we can. We are not fixing or testing any content. Thats what we have you for. We will routinely bork raid progression, itemization, and class balance with every successive expansion. Dont expect to be treated fairly or for us to abide by our rules. If you have any complaints, please get bent. We dont care.

This is what they say to us time and time again, and folks take it. again man up and show them where behavior like this will get them...the unemployment line.

Just another thread to add to the list of people quitting, etc. About a week ago I canceled the account I d/b on, was going to leave my main acct sub running, just in case I wanted to fuck around. But this definitely was enough for me to pull the plug for sure. Canceled the main as well. Sony are dumb cunts and it's really fucking sick the way that they handled this. Can't say much that hasn't already been said, but felt the need to throw my 2 cents in anyway. Warhammer here I come (whenever you decide to come out.)

Wow...this is truly amazing. I joined the site today out of solidarity. I can not believe any company in any service industry would willingly alienate its paying customers, no matter how "insignificant" they are, let alone not avoid any loss of subscribers like the plague, and yet here it is staring me in the face.
When the powers that be take this kind of attitude, what else can follow but the eventual downfall of Everquest 2 and its community.
Didn't work so well for Hitler, iirc.

I've played since launch, and endured many changes, good and bad. This inability to voice concerns about the bad ones is what further concerns me. I'm not going to quit playing EQ2 now, because I happen to like the game, flawed as it is. However, if another MMO comes along thats at least equal in content, but has outstanding customer service, bye bye SOE.

There's a small part of me that wonders if this is the final fallout from the Test->Unrest crap a couple months ago...they just waited a couple months to strike to throw off suspicion then waited for a flimsy ass excuse to drop the hammer.

No matter what though it's a load of crap that they are punishing LFG for the actions of someone that used his site. Especially when he acted as quick as he could to rectify the situation. Epic fail SOE...epic fucking fail.
