Did SoE ever try to stop any 3rd party applications?

You misread what I said. When I talk anout non-participation, I'm not pointing toward what he does on this site. I am referring to the letter from Craig which shows his lack of input to the influencers. He was in a program where he was supposed to be in direct contact with SoE. He chose not to do that, and thus was removed from the program.

Also, I never said I agree that there was no malfeasis on LFG's part. I said if you remove that from the discussion, you still have the fact that he did not participate in the influencer program (which I believe you mistake for some agreement they have with him bout this site.) His actions equate to sending emails but never attending any meetings in the conference room.

Some folks here forget why this board was created in the first place. It has been promoted as a free speech site and a raider community, but it was started because some people got banned from the official forums and wanted a place to bitch.

Coming from a guy who can only respond one sentence at a time.... wipe the drool off your chin little boy.

While there is no warden system like wow (which can be bypassed easy enough), there have been several server side functions added to identify users of some said applications, and to identify certain types of exploits.

However, really only certain things can be checked that way easily, and SoE has had difficulty in even that data being accurate enough to be actionable in many instances.

Due to there not being anything like warden in that other game the 3rd party applications aren't trying really hard to hide, if soe would introduce something like warden, it would simply be a game of hide and seek nothing more.

The only way they can crack down on bots is to read petitions and then actually investigate in addition to monitoring what happens on servers, of course that is not an option because it would cost money.

But, as I said before, Soe decapitated its own rules and shit on their corpse, so how can they except us to follow them anymore?

Fro most people there is no reason to run a bot, all they do is accumulate plat, yeah but... nothing to spend it on, so no reason to bot atm, but I see a massive increase in botting activity incomming for eq2 because many simply stopped caring.

The whole reason LFG was in the influencer program was because of this website, and the popularity it enjoyed through the efforts of LFG (and others).

The lack of any agreement between SOE and LFG regarding the content on this site as a precondition for his enrollment in said program clearly illustrates that either they had no desire to change it, or hoped to by offering LFG the position in the first place.

You seem to be latching onto the premise that LFG's "lack of participation" is the main reason for his termination, while ignoring statements such as:

SOE is bigger than any fansite and ultimately this will have minuscule to no impact on their bottomline. However, I think this is bad for EQ2 overall because it will invariably add to the overall perception that SOEs customer service/community relations sucks. Grimwell and Gnorbin have really been shitty community managers - the official forums are a big part of an online community and they have driven people away and made them a ghost town.

Anyway, SOE is a fickle friend... a fickle friend indeed.
