Speaking of 3rd party programs. Around the 2nd major ban of 5,000 accounts in the early start. Smeed (smut) stated they had a program that was 99 % effective in banning automated and 3rd party programs. He even went on to say sorry that like 3 people got banned on accident and gave them free play time. My question is if they have had this ability for so long why is it not used? I can even recall him saying that they would go out there way to use this program they developed to prevent plat farming and RMT

Because they don't want to ban RMT, they want a piece of it.

The lack of any agreement between SOE and LFG regarding the content on this site as a precondition for his enrollment in said program clearly illustrates that either they had no desire to change it, or hoped to by offering LFG the position in the first place.
SOE attempted to use brute force methods to create the appearance of a happy gaming community on its forums. Those efforts failed miserably, and backfired to create EQ2Flames.

SOE terminated me and this site from that program for what it felt were its best business interests, pure and simple. All the bullshit Grimwell said in that email he sent me is a lie.

They just want their traffic back, plus somehow believe they can silence our voices and regain the appearance that they have happy users and their game isn't all fucked up. They are in more denial of reality than a crack addict.

Regarding those who have stated I wasn't an active participant in SOE's private forums for the Influencer Program (formerly the Summit Program), you'd have to see those forums to understand why. They were totally dead, and next to unused by anyone. They'd get a new post maybe once a day to once every 3 to 4 days. Much of the posts were about things that were totally stupid, like someone endlessly arguing that the conjuror class hat should be changed. There was really nothing to participate in.

Plus, of course I'm not posting on the official forums, duh. I post on this site. I can't post what I post on the official forums - my posts would be deleted and I'd be banned.

There has been a tremendous loss to SOE by the strongarmed actions of Brenlo and his yes-man Grimwell in removing my fan site status and severing ties with this community as they did.

What loss? Just a few things off the top of my head:

1. I generally tried to keep on good terms with SOE by applying a positive spin on many negative things that were posted against SOE here. I was constantly being accused of "kissing ass" to SOE by many of our users because I was frequently defending SOE on this site. I'm now forever relieved of that burden, and I seriously hope nobody will ever think I'm kissing SOEs ass in the future. What they lost was my good will, and my occasional willingness to "help out" and "quiet" certain situations by helping hide their incompetence and problems. I've now been relieved of all obligations to support them in any way. This lifts a great burden from me personally, and will undoubtedly result in great problems for them in the future.

2. I was under a nondisclosure agreement with SOE based on my participation in the Influencer program. That NDA was very clear about me not disclosing certain information I received from SOE. Based on that NDA, there was a ton of stuff I never disclosed that would have created huge traffic for this site and amazing drama for our users. By being kicked to the curb by Brenlo and Grimwell and thrown out of the Influencer program, I'm no longer subject to that NDA for any new tasty information I learn in the future. I acknowledge that I'm still obligated not to reveal things that were subject to the NDA while I was in the Influencer program, but I have no such obligation with respect to future information I obtain. Again, this lifts a great burden from me, and will no doubt result in many future problems for SOE.

Just so you know, the way it's being painted on the SOE side is that yes you were removed from this program, but that didn't mean the end of soe employees involvement with the site, until you posted Grimwell's mail and the dev outings. Then it was completely severed (and is irrepairable if I'm reading into it correctly).

I'm not personally saying that's the way it happened in its entirety so please don't light me on fire.

edit: in all honesty, if the boards were so dead what was the point of the program anyway?

lol what a bunch of cunts. SOE attempts to ban people off their own forums. What a bunch of fucking fail.

Would be funny for everyone to change their toons /lastname to Eqtwoflames'Dotcom though.

It's entirely possible, but he'd have to be even dumber than I thought he was if he didn't realize I'd post that email.

There are several people in the Influencer program who posted on the official forums and the private site even less than I did, and they weren't banned.

I forgot an additional benefit of breaking ties with SOE. This site will be more successful now than it was before. Which has a greater circulation, the National Enquirer or the San Francisco Chronicle? I think you get my point - our usage has shot up and will continue to do so. It's time for me and Niber to get payyyyyed.

I've been busy with life so I just caught up on all da good stuff today at lunch and well LFG, you did the right thing. Even though I didn't agree with your site rule about outing devs ingame toon name, only because if they don't want to be known as a dev then don't tell anyone because people talk, it's human nature.

But I feel by making the rule that you did you where trying to keep the lines of communication open between the community and the EQ2 SOE Devs. A tricky balance you could say since I remember when this site first came up, they hated it but they came around because of the masses posting up here.

And for SOE pulling the stunt that they just pulled, well fuck them. There only further proving how shitty there community relations and customer service is.

So keep trucking LFG and SOE

This system detected very crude hacks, which of course found plenty of people using them. Finding offsets to run speed and manipulating them is a very crude method of achieving a goal. There are far more finessed methods of achieving things that are not detectable in the same way.

I don't want to hijack this thread though, and if we want to discuss what SoE is able to currently detect, what they're working on detecting, and what changes they're planning, we can start a thread just for that.
