I dunno man, come to Nagafen, where we sometimes camp the entrance to VP to keep other guilds out. Individual and group pvp can kind of suck, but guild on guild pvp owns, especially when there is something at stake, such as trying to prevent others from getting epics =p

Just to clarify, In case anyone else got the wrong idea about my posts in this thread, like William Wallace and his heart moving speech on the previous page.

My point to Gandulfy was: people don't pay to play bad games simply because they like the management. They do it because they (for the most part) enjoy the game. Not "lolol quit EQ2 and plai WoW!!".

Even if the number was 1 million, thats a considerable amount of people to continue throwing money at a shitty game, simply because they're impressed by management.

We quit because we simply aren't going to keep paying SOE to ignore the player base and put out shitty product.

When I read the boards from other games, including the unofficial/non-fansite ones, I don't see a constant stream of "this company totally ignores the player base and bans us from even voicing objections." For anything that SOE has its grubby mitts on, that seems to be the norm.

For now we're playing LOTRO and having fun with it as casual players. I kinda miss raiding, but I sure as hell don't miss t8 raiding.

What I miss most are the friends I'd made over the years, but most of them have had enough as well and have moved onto other things

EQ2 has < 200,000 subs vs WoW's aprox 10 million. Think about what your saying. 10 million people aren't going to throw money (monthly mind you) at a shitty game, simply because they're impressed by it's management.

If you do not know that there is a better product out there and have already established yourself into that game well that will tell you why they wont leave. But back on the point tho. If you have only played one game and you like it and really do not know that there is better games out there which by far there is well then you will lead yourself to believe it is in fact the better game when by all rights you do not know that because you have never played anything else. There is ZERO denying that WoW brought TONS of new ppl into the mmo world these ppl are quite literally noobs in the mmo field and have zero idea about other games out there and how much better they are than WoW. It takes a lot to tear someone away from a game period especially if it is your first mmo.

Better go check out the VNboards and see about daoc now theres a place where the devs completely ignore the players. They dont ban you for voicing your objections because it is not their official boards but they sure make sure you do not bash any devs or lay it into daoc too thick.

eq2 been going for a few years now and by prob soe standards is a old game so they treat it like that

when new content come out they hype it up no end only to find its a big dissapointment for 90 perc of the people that try it

they dont take any notice of people that tell them in beta things are wrong and they just go ahead in there own way even knowing beta players not happy

fo example chest drops in kp there were little to non when rok came out prob all of rok had little to non so they introduced a random chest thing that give cloth armour like str and plate int and so forth so it vender trash instead of corrrecting it it still happens

so by now every 1s had anoth and are leaving the game and before long they have to merge servers again cause of low population and that keep going until you have 2 usa servers euro and asian i guess but by that time 90 perc eq2 players be gone somewhere else no doubt

shame eq2 really a good game but lack of intrest to it from sony makes it a poor game to play atm

I disagree, people play wow because its highly marketed, and yes it has always been highly marketed, hell on release day I got a free copy in the mail, thats what started me playing WoW in the first place.

I guarantee you that Eq2 could compete if they actually advertised it etc. PS account numbers are completely bogus, 10 million accounts is a number released by Blizzard, and if you know anything about this business it means every account ever created even for spamming and trials. Although it is obvious there are quite a few more people in WoW then eq2, that said I talk to people at my work every day about eq2 and they all play WoW. They are shocked when I tell them the features eq2 has, most of them never went to eq2 because they were under the impression it crashed every 5 mins and had almost no features etc.

There is another thread around here where people have tried to get ahold of SOE just to sell or license the game in places like internet cafe's and so on. Guess what, none of us ever got a response from Sony post initial consultation, but we I know in the case I was involved in we called blizzard one time, they called back within the hour.

I and others have complained about this bitterly for the past two years. Their response? They believe just marketing everything through the Station Store is sufficient and effective. There is no doubt in my mind that this total lack of marketing severely retarded growth of this game.
