I agree with you that marketing plays a big factor in grabbing customers. But would you continue to play a game that you believe was no longer fun? I have quit EQ2, WoW, even other games quite a few times, since at the time I wasn't having much fun. When I play any video game I don't stay simply because I'm head over heels for management. I stay because I enjoy the game.
Thats the point I'm trying to bring to you. The people that play, enjoy the game.

This point is false.
"World of Warcraft's Subscriber Definition
World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. I think you should look into some boards about WoW so you can talk it up over there, since you haven't realized this, but anybody who would want to play WoW, would be playing WoW by now.

The difference is how serious your taking things.
You know, around the end of the month my girlfriend gets real emotional as well. It has to do with her period knocking her hormones getting all out of whack, ect. So she'll take the smallest things, completely misconstrue, and blow-up about them. As you can imagine this gets old after a while.
So what I do is play a favorite re-run of Martin in my head while she's yelling, crying, screaming ect. When she's finished I'll nod and say "hey, cmere. I love you babe." and give her a hug.
So listen, Pinski I know your upset. But no one here is promoting WoW. You know what, cmere. I love you babe.

Dear god.....I'm reading that thread on the Official forums, and I've got to hand it to you LFG. I would've lost my patience a long time ago.
Seems like you could accomplish more by creating a macro that just posts the same thing over and over again.

Thanks. The thing I can't get over is how they think WE are all fucked up over here. It isn't us at all.
EDIT: They did not appreciate me posting Talonis' Caswydian pic there. It was removed and I then apologized for posting it there. Their site, their rules IMO.

First off you are somewhat wrong with playing a game they dispise or do not like there are plenty of ppl even playing eq2 even tho they do not like it anymore. Its called attachments this includes friends in the game and guildmates and stuff like that. All that time invested into the game to just give up is asking a lot. It took me forever to leave daoc even tho i dispised the game. I tried everything in my power to become interested in that game again yet could not spark that old interest that I once held for it.
As for that definition of subscribers lol. What they tell you is one thing what it is can and very well might be another (Enron anyone?)

Of course, I'd expect to be somewhat wrong since my statement wouldn't apply to every player. But I still believe my point to be valid, in that it can be applied to almost any game.
The majority of people playing a video game are doing so because they enjoy some aspect of it. You may be dissatisfied with the current direction of EQ2, but when you log in to raid, PUG, talk with friends ect. Are you not getting some type of enjoyment out of the act? Some will say "no", but I think most would agree that theres something there to keep them logging in.

Ill try to use a example to better explain what i am about to say.
Say you bought a yugo and knew NOTHING about better cars pick any your choice (bmw, rolls whatever) that yugo gets you around just barely but its something you somewhat need (in case of a video game ppl use it to pass the time and at one point for some it becomes like a drug) yet you know nothing of that shinny beamer that you could be driving.. Well thats the same thing with a MAJORITY of the ppl who are playing WoW. They know nothing much of better games out there for they are new to the market.

Re: This is how it will be?
Just joined today. I've lurked a bit over the years. I've mostly posted on the official forums, but lately every other post gets deleted and I'm getting tired of it. Its not like I'm posting offensive or horrible stuff, but I do have a little bit of an off-beat sense of humor. The emails from the mods are polite enough, but if my little pokes at people are enough to get deleted, I have no doubt I'll get banned soon.
On that note, did someone really get banned from the official forums for something they posted here? Did I read that right?
And finally, I really don't know where I stand with regards to the issue. So far I still feel we've only heard LFG's side of the story. I'm not saying he's not telling the truth, I have no doubt he is, as he sees it, but there's always two (or more) sides to the story.
Unfortunately, based on past history, I expect we'll hear nothing but silence followed by subtle hints that its all the customers fault (in this case LFG and this site). Customer service is hard, and they've apparently put engineers in charge of customer service (a very bad idea, trust me, I work for an engineering company. Its the rare engineer that can talk to a regular person).
If you look at all these incidents, as a group, from an engineers perspective, it makes perfect sense in how they reacted. That's the funny thing. My company is smart enough to hide the engineers in their cubicles for the most part. SOE obviously hasn't made the leap
