I have been meaning to reply to this for a few days but I lost track of where the post was, anywho....

Domino is the best thing that could have happened to passionate players, raiders included. SOE hired from the community and got someone that is totally committed to their particular playstyle, she sets an example that all raiders should hold SOE to, hire from the community and get someone that is as passionate about raiding as Domino is about tradeskilling etc.

Just because she isn't a raider doesn't' mean that raiders can't use her to their advantage imo.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of her except those she is supposed to serve and raiders deserve at LEAST that much in their dev.

FWIW I have always respected you Pinski, you taught me a lot about my toon that I wouldn't have understood as easily without you breaking it down, but I honestly think you should re-evaluate your position on Domino and find a way to use it to the advantage of raiders instead of giving SOE another reason to say that raiders whine about everything and they can't ever be happy.

I hope this post is received in the sincere and respectful manner it is intended, if not then I guess I need to wear some asbestos underpants.

If you think this sort of "removal by convenience" is exclusive to SoE, or even the MMORPG forum community as a whole, then you are far more naive than I would have thought. As justified as you may think you are in stirring the pot, or heading up a forum that does the stirring for you, a business decision was made. It was spin-doctored, no doubt, but they decided that EQ2Flames was a liability and that your making money off of their product with their approval was no longer going to be the case.

Justified? I dunno. Sound business/pr decision? Prolly.

No, it was a terrible PR decision in which SOE put themselves in a unique situation where they can't win.

They either continue to ignore eq2flames which is choosing to ignore a community larger than than their official one or they retract their anti-flames stance which makes them look bad for doing this in the first place.

Either way, they lose.

If people still play their $15 and aren't on their forums causing trouble, how do they lose? They can still read posts here and therefore make themselves aware of issues via this forum.

Alternatively, they can choose to not read posts here. Then the issues aren't noted until someone posts on the official forums. We lose out because issues aren't being caught so early and are obliged to post there. Their traffic increases by necessity and so does their ad revenue.

Say people do cancel accounts over this, or generate enough negative publicity to prevent new users playing - genius! That's just less people to group or raid with. Less players contributing to dev wages possibly resulting in less devs etc etc. SOE hold all the cards. Always have and always will. Outrage and gum flapping on a site like this will change little if they aren't prepared to listen. Gameplay that was improved or changed via this site was because of LFG, it's users AND SOE participating. They have taken their ball home and aren't likely to be giving it back. Imo these forums have lost more than SOE over this.

The business aspect is probably moot because people will find any excuse to play this game. I'd like to know how you figure this is "prolly" a good PR move. You must think less of he EQ2 masses then even I do.
