Not true bud, everyone is welcome to use this site.
The only people driven away from this site are those who decide on their own to stop using it. They've driven themselves away, not me or anyone else.

There were lots of people at Fan Faire, it's quite possible you were overheard. The pool party was quite busy. Or that people saw you talking to Alla and Illia and jumped to conclusions ('cause that never happens, right?). If you recall, I didn't even stick around for the conversation, I introduced you and backed out, as it really wasn't my business.

This is completely incorrect. I met with no one from 'Zam at that Summit. I never mentioned to anyone at Zam that I was going to the Summit. Zam didn't have anyone at at all at that Summit. My interview did not occur during Summit. And Tamat didn't hire me or even interview me, he had (and still has) nothing to do with the hiring process at Zam.
Actually, I've still never met Tamat IRL, which is kinda ironic, since we lived in the same state until recently.
As for those questions I couldn't get answered because it was the first divergence form the developer-style summits, I did send them off for QA, but they melted into the ozone somewhere. Even after I quit here and went to Zam I tried to get the answers for you, but they never appeared. Which I did post at the time. I did my level best to fulfill that outstanding obligation to Flames, and couldn't.

Does anyone actually visit those sites? I played EQ2 for 2 years and never once was I even curious what was on them.

Re: EQ2 Flames Consolidated Developer Information List
I used Alla's for EQ1. Back then, it had relevant information, and it wasn't about the articles, and rubbing SOEs butthole with a tongue. It was about items, where, how, and how long it took. Now its just a stroke off. I've not received any information from there that I didn't already possess.

Re: EQ2 Flames Consolidated Developer Information List
I used Alakabahbah back when I played EQOA mainly because it was the largest resource for in game info but was never once interested in anything else. What people really want is accurate info from veteran players and you can not get that anywhere else but Flames because when someone is wrong on here it won't be long before they are proven to be, however on the SOE forums that is a big no no and you will get modded for it, it is impossible to have the same gameplay discussions on any other website.

I don't think that's plausible. I remember the situation clearly, it was pretty far away from the crowd.

Whatever, more splitting hairs, the gist of what I said still stands. And you didn't deny it, you just provided excuses about how it could be possible it wasn't you.

Re: EQ2 Flames Consolidated Developer Information List
Liar's a strong word, because Calthine isn't directly disputing anything. Just attempting to toss some misdirection around. This is hilarious watching these fan sites (who compete financially, mind you) circle their wagons and come straight here to tell us how bad we all are. I would LOVE it to see SOE lose all trust in fan sites, and cut them off as well. It would teach them for being little bitches.

Re: EQ2 Flames Consolidated Developer Information List
Allakhazam - that site that you used to read about quests before EQ2Wiki
TTH - that site that was marginally useful for spell lists until they put Master II options on the in-game abilities list.
I guess I just don't get the point of these sites besides aggregating useless information. There are people who have made positive contributions to the community -- EQ2LLinks, ACT, EQ2Wiki contributors, people who test things on these forums, some others I'm forgetting. Then there are the people that SoE seems to love that passively aggregate information that no one gives a shit about. And they get called to conferences to talk about where they'd like to see the game going based on, I dunno... personal preference, their experience with aggregating?
Ya there's some effort involved but it's backend stuff about setting the site up to begin with. LFG even in a passive role setting up this forum takes shit from all directions as opposed to setting up a pipeline from which a stream of press releases flows from SoE to... who? If you're lucky they'll squat to squeeze out an "exclusive" log for you.
I guess my question is who buys into these communities besides the people making them and SoE? When was the last time you heard someone say to go to "zam" or "TTH" versus EQ2Flames or EQ2wiki? I dunno, I'm confused where they're drawing their audience from and why their audience uses it. It seems like these sites are propped up by their WoW sections, which might be more useful?
