Did you know that McDonalds employees are NOT eligible to claim ANY prize through the Monopoly contest they have each year? Why? BEcause THEY HAVE AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE over non-employees. It is this way with most examples of 'contests' to be generally 'fair', people working on the inside are usually voided from contending with outsiders.

SoE should not have been furious with Eq2flames/player base for outting Devs but rather their Devs for not remaining and keeping their status on the down-low and remaining anonymous. How fucking unprofessional can you get. Just to point out, your post/LFG's poll/Aerelik's incoherent, nearly illegible PM may have had nothing to do with LFG's removal.

The timing is... suspicious. However, the timing is also consistent with SOE just finishing their summit and re-evaluating their "community." The information LFG supposedly betrayed could very well be read as something such as... oh, Scott Hartsman's resignation which was leaked by LFG before SOE wanted it out there. SOE was none too happy about that.

But rather than get confirmation about WHY he was removed, and see if there was some solution***, LFG assumed it was for the outing Aerelik thing and did his typical "rant-first-think-of-the-consequences-later", and now the pooch is most definitely screwed, but good.

Granted, some VERY interesting and disturbing stuff has come out, mainly concerning Zoltaroth's abusing his dev position and Aerelik sending out PM's that most junior high schoolers would be ashamed of... but poor li'l poochy's innocence will never be regained. All I'm sayin'.


*** - I'm assuming he did not do this based on what I know of LFG's temper and tendency to jump to conclusions.

What will SOE do about this ? If this/these dev/devs will lose their jobs there will be only a few left without the ability to develop this game any further.

For example, if it's really proven that they broke the terms of their employment contract there will be for sure a real big contract penality.

I'm not gonna argue rights and wrongs here concerning the new information released on Flames, its been done. I'm not gonna argue LFG's various contributions to the community, they are many. However lets argue the facts at hand.

Before this fiasco LFG was probably considered dangerous in SoE's eyes. And by dangerous I mean he's someone with privledged information, is not on SoE's payroll, cannot be fired, cannot be controled and operates a flamers forum FFS. And while LFG never did cross "the line" he got too close to it.

The poll based on "exposing devs" was obviously a bad decision, and it should of died asap. I'm not suprized one bit LFG was "taken out of the loop" because of it. To top it off, LFG's reaction of allowing this board to be used for revenge (warranted or not) only soldifies SoE's decision. When someone you cant control is capable of going into complete 180 because he's pissed, thats a loose wire.

We think we hurt SoE badly. I think in SoE's eyes they feel like they got a clean start.

Whats worse is the devs already knew our gripes, they've already seen our threats, thats nothing new. We're not even breaking new ground here folks. Sure, a few devs who play the game in high-end guilds were exposed, and now we have an unofficial forum with no more dev communication.
