I already knew this, but I was talking to a former NPU member who verified the following:

Astaroth/Zoltaroth gave contested mob spawn timers to NPU guild leaders so they could schedule killing them up to a week in advance. This was a common practice that went on for all of EoF (and is probably still going on today).

Sucks to be a different raid guild on Guk, lol.

Wow.... Talk about exploiting your knowledge for personal gain. Fuck Zoltaroth. If this shit is true, I don't see how they can keep him employed.

It would explain them killing avatars at 4 a.m. I very seriously doubted that they had someone camping contested that late and such and got 24 people on at that time of the day with none of them having prior knowledge to it going to spawn at a certain time.

What sucks is that we actually had people camping contested all night into the morning hours. I can't imagine what it would have been like if we could have said "ok guys be on Thursday at 2am, Flame will spawn".

they still had to do pretty much the same thing but because of the inside info they knew what the spawn window was, not sure what they were but i think most were 18-36 or 18-48 hours.

No shit, would make things a lot easier. It sucks that guilds on Guk have been completely fucked over because of this. I'd be fucking livid if I were them.

They can see the spawn down to the minute, not just the window. The exact spawn time is generated on the previous spawn.
