Proof?
Doesn't aeralik state that he and many others have heard of the exploit, then proceed to describe in detail while promising to look the other way?
Dude, please stop.

Re: Back at you, SOE
People are saying that they admire Pantz for stepping forward and talking about this, that this is all the dev's fault and SoN was just a pawn. It took two people to make this happen, the dev and the GL who allowed it. If someone tells you it's ok to rob a bank, would you do it? The only message I'm seeing here is that they can do bad things and as long as they own up to it, it's ok. Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission? Pantz technically never said he was sorry, just that he didn't want to involve his guildmates. This is not someone to respect here folks.

I think you would.

If I got bitten, I wouldn't make any assumptions about what bit me without first gathering what evidence I could. If the evidence were inconclusive, I wouldn't say a dog bit me simply because I don't like dogs.

Re: Back at you, SOE
This is sidestepping the entire issue... people don't really care if a guild or even a developer in a guild used an exploit/bug/whatever of this flavor to defeat a mob because it is the expectation that they will fuck up the design of some raid encounters and you will have to employ "creative" strategies to break them into the realm of the possible. Which is a whole other issue.
The core of the matter here is that one of the developers with the power to enact a change receives private communication about a bug that someone thinks might be an exploit... SoE might not define it as a bannable exploit, but it is still an unintended bug in the encounter. Instead of just getting to work on getting it resolved, he turns around and suggests that his guild exploit it. Using language that suggests this is not on the level but he'll make sure there's no fallout.
THAT is what he was doing wrong. Violating the expectation that developers won't be giving little handshakes to their friends in game to give them a leg up getting their uber shinies. There is an expectation that there will be a somewhat even playing field with few exceptions for beta testing.

If the person was the Chief of Police and guaranteed I'd not get caught? Yes, yes I would.

Such talent.

Yes robbing banks and cheating at video games deserve to be in the same bucket.
I am so sorry I cheated at a video game. I promise I'll never do it again.
Fuck off.

Big deal, they exploited. Lots of guilds did shady things. I don't think that's a big concern anymore in the direction this game is headed(while yes, they did exploit, but let's focus on the real issue at hand, the game and its developers, not whether some guild exploited). I think the bigger thing is, the fact that Aeralik knowingly ignored it while it occurred. They're small fry. Aeralik, on the other hand, isn't.
