Posting a PM exposing corruption? Ok, good journalism.

Violating a user's privacy, reading their PMs, then forwarding that information to SOE through private channels? Kinda shady, but for the good of the game he claims to love.

LFG, while I think it's important for people to be honest and that the corruption of the devs DOES need to be exposed and eliminated from the game... I'm also convinced that losing your integrity to do so is not worth it.

Everything you've done on this site to this point has been using information that, while perhaps privileged... at least you had a right to possess and without being specifically under NDA or contract or explicit agreement with specific parties NOT to discuss... well, I can give you the benefit of the doubt that it was permissable use.

This, however, you've violated something as sacred as what we've been hating on Sony for doing. Breach of faith, loss of integrity... logging in as someone else to scour their messages is just too much.

I'd suggest you pull this thread immediately... this feels like an absolute act of desparation. I would prefer EQ2flames stay open as a resource tool and an open forum but this feels like you are subscribing to....

BTW, I like how people bitched about releasing the devs real names in that one thread. But, I am pretty sure that was public knowledge to begin with???

And as it has been said before, there is no privacy on the internets , just look @ the DnT drama from last week, where someone posted all of this information they found that was supposedly private, even though it was all found on google/myspace/etc...

Thanx for correcting my misreading. However, I still say it was not unethical. It is known that SOE reads our PM's on their site. It is generally known that PM's CAN be read on bulletin boards. I mean, come on, its a website. If you wanted it to have a chance of being private, send an email.



I never assume just becasue I am typing a "private message" it is truly private, and I cant really see where any level-headed person would.

While that can definitly be said about this case. Honestly, who gives a fuck? Big fuckin deal if LFG's rep takes a hit, as it should. I for one would rather know the truth about the game I am a paying customer for, as opposed to having some admin with a pristine reputation on the site I visit when Im bored at work.

The people defending SOE on this are just fucked up in the head. It's a fucking PM on a forum, it's common knowledge that admins can read PMs, so don't go sending your credit card and social security numbers, kay?

It's not even like LFG is going through people's PMs to find nude photos of hot girls. This PM in particular perfectly demonstrates just how fucking corrupt SOE is and needed to be revealed in one way or another.

I don't deny that a significant motive in posting this was revenge. I'm not trying to rationalize what I've done here in any way.

Perhaps my favorite line from a movie, ever, was a John Wayne film in which he said:

"I won't be wronged, I won't be slandered, and I won't be laid a hand on".

He described that as the "Code of the West", and it is one I've lived by my entire life.

In this case, I was wronged by Aeralik, I was slandered by Grimwell (libeled actually, but who cares), and I was laid a hand on by pretty much losing the entire value of this site based on SOE's combined recent actions (if you dispute this, let me ask you - why would there be any reason for anyone to ever post a complaint about EQ2 on this site again if SOE no longer reads it?).

So this is our swan song.

I also take comfort in the fact that this major act of corruption was exposed. This is an act of whistle blowing, plain and simple.

I'd also like to note that I'm not aware of any time previous that the "log in to another user account" feature in the admin control panel has been previously used on this site. I know for sure that I've never done it, and the only people who've ever had access to our admincp is me and Niber.
