Exactly.
Some of us DO live in a reality where a game of fictional characters doesn't mean more than principles. We live in a world where principles, whether in a video game, golf league, school or business actually mean something.
That Aeralik and his guild choose to abandon those principles to achieve success in such a game [read game with a derisive conotation as implied by the quoted poster] is therefore simply pathetic and disgusting. That they choose to do so for the *honor* of claiming server or WW bragging rights over people who compete fairly goes beyond pathetic and disgusting.
Witness that Lord Pantz comes here deriding the progress of another Blackburrow guild, after posting here that he did indeed receive said communication from his SoE employee guildmate and that he--and by later admission his GL, Mateo--approved using this exploit to further their guild's in-game progression. A guild--regardless of how skilled or talented it's members are--that uses inside information and exploits to suceed has little room to deride the efforts of those who at least make the effort on their own merit.
How is this any different than playing in a golf league where someone cheats to win the club trophy? People work hard and compete fairly in a test of their skills to earn those honors, which are diminished by those who unfairly steal the glory instead. Such people are justifiably universally despised and held in contempt by their peers. These people aided and abetted by these unscrupulous Devs steal earned glory [however trivial in-game glory might be] from those who have actually earned it.
Tell me about principles, please. Tell me how principled the actions of Aerilik and his guild are, or those of other guilds who have utilized an unfair advantage provided by SoE employees?
LFG and Niber's actions, while hardly commendable, do not even compare to the actions of Aeralik and his cronies. While revenge for the injustices done to them by SoE may have motivated their decision to release this information, it doesn't in any way negate the the far, far greater crime done by Aeralik or other corrupt SoE developers, nor does it excuse the guilds who knowingly profited by what they knew to be illicit knowledge.
