Then you are the exception to the rule. The thing is, if every single EQ2Flames member united, and quit the game, we still wouldnt be a drop in the financial bucket.
I dont know what the math is, but if you look at the big picture, and subtract the entire Flames community from the toal amount of active subscriptions, it will tell you exactly how important SOE thinks this community is.
Even if every single hardcore raider here WALKED THE FUCK OUT, some guild will replace you on your server.
Nothings changed, nor will it.

I'm in this boat, though it wasn't due to this issue that I canceled though it was a reason that I felt better about quitting, and it wasn't just 15 a month from me, I canceled 2 accounts on the same day... sad thing is I have yet to get the "we're sorry to see you go" email begging me to come back and give it another try... maybe it's too soon though.

Let's see, there are 12,353 members on EQ2flames' member list.

Assume a fair amount of those are people who are already retired, hell, let's be generous, say 10,000 are still playing eq2, (most of these people have multiple accounts, but will ignore that for now considering how lazy I am)

15$ per month, thats 150,000$ per month, 1.8 million dollars per year.

I don't give a shit about the total, if you're willing to throw away 1.8 million dollars in revenue per fucking year, then you are without a doubt the most fucking retarded businessman to set foot on this planet. And the whole "1.8 million doesn't mean much to a company like SOE" argument is fucking useless. Companies pay exorbitant amounts to accountants to figure out ways to save them some money, and usually it turns out to be less than 1.8 million.

Fact is, when its 1.8 million dollars, it doesn't matter in the least what the total income generated from EQ2 is, its still a shit-ton of money that's thrown away, and more than enough for a manager to be "politely" asked to retire.

based on the number of posts on these forums from people who are retired I'd put the retired number at around 50%, but 6000 accounts being cancelled would still be noticed I think.

Sadly, I doubt this will cause me to leave the game. The social network I have in game is a major drive to keeping me here until we move enmasse to something else (and I dont see that something else out there). None of the other MMO's have the feel to them that EQ & EQ2 have had for me either.

Yea, even 6,000 accounts (100% of hardcore raiders, 100% of semi-hardcore raiders, prolly around 50% of casual-semi hardcore raiders) gone and no reaction from SOE managers to try and get them back would get managers replaced. As well as SOE's share price drop considerably, and not to mention intangible effects like a massive public embarassment for a company that already had a pretty bad track record in maintaining quality in their games to lose an entire "faction" within their game.

But no, I don't think eq2flames would ever "unite" and all quit, unless SOE did something *really* drastic like getting rid of all raiding in eq2 period.

The problem is pretty much that EQ2 was fucking awesome, but it's been getting shittier for a while, but not enough that other games are too appealing.
