Everything on this site has always been done publicly. We don't do things in secret here, we never have, and never will. People need clear notice of what is and isn't allowed. Trying to hide things and do things secretly here doesn't work. Our users are too observant, and don't miss things.

Just trying to hide that situation would have quickly escalated it. People would have continued to repost his player name, and when challenged or told to stop it, would have responded "it isn't against the site rules." And they would have been correct. And I would have had to be a hypocrite to tell them to stop, because I would have no basis of authority for doing that.

This would have lead to a situation where I would have had to start playing "respect my authoritah." Mass bannings for protests have never worked on this site, and have just created problems that were much worse.

Clearly, my comments about something that affects both my use of your forums and my opinions of the EQ2 devs have no place in the General Discussion forum. I guess this is my last post about the expectations of privacy you set for your users before you ban me.

This is what I agree on.

Lets face it, playing politics usually means lowering standards. You simply rose above that. But was it SOE's fault? Naw, not really. Aeralik's decision was legit. In the end this forum was destined to loose its official ties anyways.

Kinda sucks tho. I do miss dev interaction.
