    Default Bertoxxulous

In the EQ1 lore he is described as a hunchback humanoid with a handsome face but a rotting body.

How come his avatar in EQ2 is a rotting ratonga? Was he the creator of the ratonga? WTF is going on? Why is he suddenly a furry?

Can someone explain this to me.

It's not the gods themselves, it's a chosen being they use as their "avatar".

There was nothing handsome about Bertox in EQ1.....Though I do miss the raid scripts form PoP...there was alot of real cool encounters.

Some of them are chosen and others are shaped IMO.

Like fear, that Avatar definitely isn't a Lizard man, Iksar, or even amgalyn(sp? octopus face!)

That explains why he went from this:

    Maybe Evdokia is the avatar?

I also liked Solusek Ro's depiction in EQ1 rather than EQ2's. But Karana's pretty kickass in EQ2 anyway.

Because in eq1 you actually went into the gods plane and attacked them? While in eq2 its just an AVATAR selected to represent them on earth. The gods brought the avatars back to inspire faith back into the people.

At least that is my understanding.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh...the terms are tossed around loosely. The Avatars are the same manifestations of the gods that took place in EQ1. The actual "avatars" are more loosely considered the prophets.

In EQ1 the gods themselves weren't being attacked but rather manifestations. They would conjure themselves into physical forms to defend their desecrated planes. There has only been 1 god whos form is truly himself and if he were to be killed he would be gone forever. Thats Zebuxoruk. All other dietys reside as a higher power in their plane. For example, Quellious in EQ1 was considered to be the entire Plane of Tranquility itself because she didn't need to project herself.

Oh, OK. I was basing these off of the orangish-sepia-line art that the gods had for their depictions in EQ1 [a Google search of any EQ god will bring these images up.]

Ah i do remember it saying he was a handsome face of a person but a rotting corpse underneath.. here is a shot from EQoA's version of him

heres a better look at him then.

I remember somewhere reading thats how he was supposed to look like this from back from some old EQ1 instruction book or something, but by the time he was part of EQ1's plains i guess they changed his look some.
