Well i thought i'd start the ball rolling with some good ole EQ2 trivia, most is from official forums but i doubt many people here read it, Feel free to remove it, move it to carebear of w/e you wish, but i thought it was lore (kind of).
A good eq1 knowledge also helps aswell
so here we are:

# Xegony = Oxygen
Xegony is the god of air

# Fennin Ro = Inferno (off by one letter)
Fennin Ro is the god of fire

# Tarew Marr = Water Marr(marr is just a suffix given to several gods)

# Povar = Vapor

# E'ci = Ice
Tarew, Povar and E'ci are the gods of water

# Rodcet Nife = Docter Fine?
Rodcet Nife is the prime healer

# Veeshean = Heavens
Veeshan is the ruler of all wurms

# Rathe = Earth
Rathe is a council of several members that are the gods of earth

# Orly / Yarly = Oh Really / Yea Really

Tunare is the god of nature and creator of elves

# Felwithe = White Elf
Felwithe is the city of the High Elves who generally have pale skin

In EQ1 there was a Zilla temple. Generally temples are created to serve a god of some sorts, so we derive Godzilla.

The frogs in the froglok village you port to have reversed froggie names SMILEY Timrek, Pikspoh, Pohpiks, Repmuj, Reppoh, and, of course, the lovebirds. Oemor and Teiluj.

Darlek the exterminator in mistmoore catacombs

In EQ1's Padual Caverns, there was a Beatle looking mob named Ringo.

You can really rell that the programmers are big Nintendo fans, just from some of the zone names... Everfrost Peaks is also the name of a level in Super Mario Kart Racing for the SNES, while the Lake of Ill Omen can be found in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Tunare (Goddess of Nature) = Nature
Fennin Ro (from the Plane of Fire) = Infernno (yes, slightly misspelled)
The Rathe (from the Plane of Earth) = The Earth
Xegony (from the Plane of Air) = Oxygen
Veeshan (child of Xegony, ruler of the sky) = Heavens
Tarew Marr (from the Plane of Water) = Water, Marr is similar to Mare, Latin for "sea".
Povar (from the Plane of Water) = Vapor
E'ci (from the Plane of Water) = Ice
Rodcet Nife (God of Healing) = Docter Fine (again mispelled).

During the training sessions with Master Long Shan in The Village, his students all come out, their names:
Ryu, Dan, Ken, Chun, and Li. (Chun-Li) Characters from Street Fighter

One of the mobs required for a Court of Coin quest in Sinking Sands/Croc Caves is 'Bindi the Croc Hunter'. Bindi Irwin is Steve Irwin's daughter.

Frostfell village - Climb through a magic wardrobe to get to a snow land! (Narnia) , in the Winter Wonderland Village Fleck had his tongue stuck to a pole near the closet.

Lu Sywaka on the third floor of the monk tower in Isle of Mara

Deathfist Citadel, you can now get a quest called "The Right Brothers" from Oarwille Wight (Orville Wright) in Zek that requires you to find his brother Wulbir Wight (Wilbur Wright) in the citadel. The reward for this quest is the ability to use Oarwille's catapult, the Whirling-Arm Prototype 16 to fly from the Mariner fort to a spot directly in front of DFC


Also, the quest "Snakes on the Plains" in Loping Plains had me laughing so hard I almost fell out of my seat when I received it.

EF npc Haijakt: His name means "Shark Hunt" in norwegian/swedish ...kinda fitting

Court of Al Afaz: The zone is based on the songs "In The Court Of The Crimson King", "Moonchild", "Epitaph" and "I Talk To The Wind" by british prog rockers King Crimson.

There are two frogloks called 'Ooemor' and 'Ailuj' (Romeo och Julia). They can be found in the Froglok Village (the one you port to from the pond in Antonica).

You can also find two birds in The Barren Sky (TT Portal) that have these two names, if I remember correct.

LOTRO. I feel like playing it but don't want to resub with WAR and WoTLK on the way. But MORIA! I guess I want to since I'm reading the LOTR book =/

But yea it was really cool reading about Tom and remembering going to his house. The game also makes it alot easier to picture in my head.

Erm, back to the topic at hand...I knew about the Hooluk up in BS named Orly and Yarly but I've never seen the ones in Nek, where in Nek are they? I almost died from lack of air b/c of laughing when I came across those two. I just wish there had been a Nowai and Wai too
