Well i thought i'd start the ball rolling with some good ole EQ2 trivia, most is from official forums but i doubt many people here read it, Feel free to remove it, move it to carebear of w/e you wish, but i thought it was lore (kind of).
A good eq1 knowledge also helps aswell

You can really rell that the programmers are big Nintendo fans, just from some of the zone names... Everfrost Peaks is also the name of a level in Super Mario Kart Racing for the SNES, while the Lake of Ill Omen can be found in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Tunare (Goddess of Nature) = Nature
Fennin Ro (from the Plane of Fire) = Infernno (yes, slightly misspelled)
The Rathe (from the Plane of Earth) = The Earth
Xegony (from the Plane of Air) = Oxygen
Veeshan (child of Xegony, ruler of the sky) = Heavens
Tarew Marr (from the Plane of Water) = Water, Marr is similar to Mare, Latin for "sea".
Povar (from the Plane of Water) = Vapor
E'ci (from the Plane of Water) = Ice
Rodcet Nife (God of Healing) = Docter Fine (again mispelled).

One of the mobs required for a Court of Coin quest in Sinking Sands/Croc Caves is 'Bindi the Croc Hunter'. Bindi Irwin is Steve Irwin's daughter.
Frostfell village - Climb through a magic wardrobe to get to a snow land! (Narnia) , in the Winter Wonderland Village Fleck had his tongue stuck to a pole near the closet.
Lu Sywaka on the third floor of the monk tower in Isle of Mara
Deathfist Citadel, you can now get a quest called "The Right Brothers" from Oarwille Wight (Orville Wright) in Zek that requires you to find his brother Wulbir Wight (Wilbur Wright) in the citadel. The reward for this quest is the ability to use Oarwille's catapult, the Whirling-Arm Prototype 16 to fly from the Mariner fort to a spot directly in front of DFC
Also, the quest "Snakes on the Plains" in Loping Plains had me laughing so hard I almost fell out of my seat when I received it.
EF npc Haijakt: His name means "Shark Hunt" in norwegian/swedish ...kinda fitting
Court of Al Afaz: The zone is based on the songs "In The Court Of The Crimson King", "Moonchild", "Epitaph" and "I Talk To The Wind" by british prog rockers King Crimson.
