+Spell Damage, INT, +Spell Crit, +HP, +STA, +Power, +FT.

That's about it, and in that order after the update.

Okay, now I have a question concerning the +Damage.

Let's say you have an item that adds 15 to spell damage.
When does that spell damage get factored in? Does it get factored INTO the equation that checks against your stats etc.. ? Or does it get factored AFTER all is said and done [meaning its an absolute 15] ? I havent been able to find the answers to this question. and I had also wondered the same about the +12 piercing adornments as well for melee class [does it follow same rules] ?

I'd like to know that as well, it all seems very complicated and hard to follow.

From my quick look there seems to be a +25 spell adorn for neck and gloves? With then another +mental damage adorn for your weapons.

Do they simply just add +dmg to the base of all your spells? What about DoT and or Procs? Grrr too many questions.

Ohh and while i'm at it, anyone know if synergism procs off poision procs? So for example throw it on a ranger and everytime their poison procs there's a chance to proc synergism?

Currently +spell damage works like this:

For any DoT spell, it takes the amount of tics a spell has, including the initial, and takes that and divides it by that, with a min of 5. For example brainburst is considered "5", so a +25 Spell Damage adornment would add 5 damage to each tic, totaling 25 damage. Another normalization applied is that for AoEs it is divided by 3. So, for example Ultraviolet Storm is considered "5"(even though it only has 4 tics), so you get a total of 1.7 added to each tic, totaling 6.7 damage.

For any DD spell, it takes the cast time and divides it by that based around a 3s cast time. For example Shimmering Beam is a 1s cast time, so it will only gain 8.3 damage from a +25 Spell Damage adornment.

However, this will be changed sometime in the near future to work like this:

For any Spell, you will gain the full amount of Spell Damage to the initial. Except AoEs will only gain 1/3rd of that bonus to the initial. For example, Shimmering Beam would gain 25 damage from a +25 Spell Damage adornment. Also, Ultraviolet Storm will gain 8.3 damage to the initial, while Brainburst would gain 25 damage to the initial.

Until boe changes go into effect (sometime before rok i believe) +spell dmg is worthless and any kind of crit/proc etc is better. After boe changes however the whole world changes ;).

Does "Scintillating Phantom Handle" adornment work for both spell and melee/CA attacks? It's not clear to me from its description. Would this be a reasonable staff adornment for an Illusionist that can't afford Fabled adornments yet?

Quote:
On a successful attack this spell has a chance to cast phantom freeback on target of attack. This effect will trigger an average of 2.0 times per minute. If a melee attack is used, only the primary weapon can trigger this effect.
thanks, -X
