LOL sorry but which scouts are you grouping with? A well played Assasin/Swashy/Brigand/Ranger with decent gear should have the edge in a heroic group where mobs die in less than 10/15 secs.

Can you please elaborate on this? I have been at 80 running CoA/Sleeper/Madiens for the past week and 1/2 and my dps sux (~1k zonewide or 1.5k zw with a trob in the group).
I am not coming in to RoK with any raid gear. I am in mostly legendary stuff/ad3s with as much trigger on hostile stuff I can get. Have 125 AA agi, int, illum, tc, ia. Follow pretty close to casting orders posted here, ie. use beam alot and keep perp5 up as much as possible.
Basically any scout (non-bard) or any caster is at double my dps wearing very similar gear.

Re: Disapointed newbie illu seeks advice
ALOT of rok treasured gear in rok is better for dps than some raid gear from t7 you can get easily so that can't be a real issue...just try a different cast order or try clicking stuff faster!

Re: Disapointed newbie illu seeks advice
Well currently I have +825 spell damage with 26% crit chance. I have tried different casting orders they didn't seem to make that much of a difference as long as the order maintained perp5 for most of the fight.
Non-mobs CoA/Sleeper mobs (these are usually blue to yellow single ^^^ or ^^ triples):
prismatic (precast)
daunted (during pull)
Beam
brainclot
abolish hope (whatever the upgrade is named)
Beam
Gamma Storm
Chromatic Shower
Beam
Brainclot
Beam
Abolish hope
prismatic
beam
Gamma if mob is not dead.
Names/Boss encounters
Manaflow (precast)
Flash of Brilliance (precast)
Savante (precast)
prismatic (precast)
illuminate (on pull)
daunted
beam
construct
beam
brainclot
abolish hope (whatever the upgrade is named)
Beam
Gamma Storm
Chromatic Shower
Beam
Prismatic
Beam
Brainclot
Beam
Abolish hope
prismatic
beam
etc, as necessary
I have ran both CoA and sleeper about a dozen times each and my dps has been fairly consistent at ~1.1k w/o a troub and ~1.5k with. That is basically spamming as fast as refresh allows. With all RoK upgrades at Ad3 (I had no T7 master was only 60 when RoK dropped) and Beam at M2.

I just did CoA at level 73. I have one (1) peice of fabled gear (Orb of the Chosen) and about 80% of my spells are Adept 3 and I'm still using Shimmering Beam (AD3). My group was SK (80), Warlock (79), Brig (76) and Warden (74).
I parsed higher zonewide than you and I was slacking big time (not to mention a lot of the mobs were orange to me). I can't even imagine how you got such a low parse at 80 with a Troub in your group. Seriously, consider my mind boggled.
Oh, I just saw you have a casting order. Here's my advice to you, you can chose to disregard it if you like. Get rid of your casting order. Learn how your spells work together and what they do and play dynamically. I'm a firm believer that casting orders will lower your dps quicker than anything else.

*shrug* Maybe it's not that your scouts are good, but that your Illusionist sucks? Sorry if that hits a little close to the truth.

Re: Disapointed newbie illu seeks advice
Few things: - Are you casting Tandem/Synergism on yourself? Please tell me you are....
- Are you staying below 30% as much as you can? Heck I don't even bother in easy heroic dungeons because I'm lazy and the mobs die too fast anyways...
- I wouldn't cast Savante on the pull. I've seen a handful of fights where I would (e.g. if the mob power drains like in Vaults) but otherwise I reserve Savante for the long boss fights in raid zones where I've already done 1 Manaflow to myself and I'll cast Savante right before the second one.
- I don't cast Flash unless I'm gonna mez something. Maybe I should pre-cast it more though... Just gotta be careful not to cast on the pull.
- What other gear do you have? Do you have at least BCG/Invoker Earring/WoCP?
- I try not to cast daunted at all except on a raid. Heroic mobs don't need massive debuffs, and the only thing its good for is potentially proc'ing something like Dynamism.
- Are all 3 hits of Prismatic proc'ing? Who are you casting it on?
I have zero T8 masters as well (+M2 Beam), 31% crit, and about +650 spell damage and I have no problems breaking 2k on even short fights, without a troub or wizzy. If I have a scout in group parsing 3k I could easily fall short though, just from the fact that I'd get only one Prismatic off.
However, I do have EoF set vest (+1 Prismatic Proc), Vine-Wrapped Boots, Necro Orb (Proc) Ring of 4 Winds (+5% reuse) Otherwise, most of my gear got replaced with RoK gear of any note other than the proc items I listed in #5.

Re: Disapointed newbie illu seeks advice
Aggressiv
1. Are you casting Tandem/Synergism on yourself? Please tell me you are....
Yes, I alway keep Synergism(M2) up on myself
2. Are you staying below 30% as much as you can? Heck I don't even bother in easy heroic dungeons because I'm lazy and the mobs die too fast anyways...
As much as I can, which if I had to quess would be about 50% of the time.
3. I wouldn't cast Savante on the pull. I've seen a handful of fights where I would (e.g. if the mob power drains like in Vaults) but otherwise I reserve Savante for the long boss fights in raid zones where I've already done 1 Manaflow to myself and I'll cast Savante right before the second one.
Well the main reason I cast savante is so the rest of the group has power, we chain pull through both of these instances so everyone is always low on power.
4. I don't cast Flash unless I'm gonna mez something. Maybe I should pre-cast it more though... Just gotta be careful not to cast on the pull.
Like I said I only do it for names, its no biggie to time so no aggro.
5. What other gear do you have? Do you have at least BCG/Invoker Earring/WoCP?
No on the WoCP, yes on other 2...was only 60 when kunark came out still missing some gear.
6. I try not to cast daunted at all except on a raid. Heroic mobs don't need massive debuffs, and the only thing its good for is potentially proc'ing something like Dynamism.
I just cast it for the quick casting time, for perp and Synerg.
7. Are all 3 hits of Prismatic proc'ing? Who are you casting it on?
Usually on a zerk MT, always fully proc by the time I recast.
All my gear except BCG and Invoker are Rok Teasured/Leg and dont have the procs, benefits some of your stuff may have.
Cupcake,
Other than spells with mental damage debuffs and DoT tick timings I don't really see what kind of dynamic interplay that will cause some drastic dps increase. Are you using a pet? I know I can up my dps that way but figured the rest of the groups dps would suffer more than I gained.
I maybe a noob and I may suck, that is fine I am not here for my ego I am here to learn.

You have to accept that fact that in eq2 you are a buffer first, dps second, utility third, and crowd control infrequently.
90% of the time I mez it's when I solo

No. Your only purpose is to increase the raids dps - and buffs are not always the best way of doing it.
