aggro from your former pet will be dumped onto you.
The point is this, you can be fighting 1 monster and very rapidly have to be ccing a broken pet mid combat. This puts unpredictible mana strain on the solo caster.

Skilled coercers don't do something as STUPID as recharming the mob during the 2 second stun. SKILLED coercers keep their pet as the toggle target, so in the event of a break, its a quick tab-mez-tab and be back on the mob you're attacking. Re-root mob, swap back to pet, recharm, resume.
Is it as "easy" as illusionist? Nope. But coercers can find some pretty deadly pets, and don't have to deal with silly things like their pet rooting a mob halfway across the zone when you send them to pet pull lol! I leveled to 70 as a coercer, and solo'd a great deal, and enjoyed it immensely. I solo alot as an illusionist now, and find it pretty repetitious (tho not nearly as bad as soloing on my fury) and I kinda miss the fun of charming.
Not to mention, charm is the ultimate mez. Even if the mob is dotted, it won't break unless you get unlucky on the resist check.
