Well your first problem is, you should cast it on the Warden directly so as to make sure it's going onto a mob, because as I asked, did the person have a target? Your answer says nothing about that.

Ill test it again and make sure the warden has the target, i didnt specify him to keep the target on the mob, although he prolly didnt hit escape after rooting it. I'll also try casting directly on the person, but generally from what the spells says, it wont work unless the mob is targeting the person in question, at least its what i believed it did. Ill see if i get similar results.

Regardless of the outcome tho, i dont think its normal that the spell cast and the re-use timer goes off if the spell failed to do anything.

Well, that's definitely wrong and has nothing to do with who the mob is targetting. You can cast it on anybody who is engaged in group/raid with the mob they are targetting and it should work, provided they are not stunned or stifled.

In that case its definatly still bugged. Just did it with a dirge. He opened with his ranged CA root, i had him targeted, as soon as battle was engaged i casted Doppleganger, nothing. We tried it one more time, with him turning his melee auto attack on while staying at range, nothing. Finally tried it normally with him in melee range, success. Im on a pvp server, maybe its only totally fixed on blue servers, tho i dont see why it would be the case.

Me, not at the moment that i casted, but as soon as the spell went of, i became engaged.

I did similar test, where i started unengaged, and the spell worked perfectly as long as they were within melee range of the mobs tho. Ill double-check again. If thats the case, then i guess doppleganger cannot be the first spell you cast in a fight. Nor is there usually a reason to do it. Still quite an odd spell to use.
