Doppleganger?

Doppleganger actually works pretty well now, take a good couple hits, cast time is a little long but no huge fuss, I've even seen it take double attacks. Overall it's a pretty cool spells, too bad it only works 1 out of 10 times. For some reason it's like it resists, but the cast time still sits at what it would have been if it had totally gone through. But it couldn't even be resisted becuase you're casting it on a player, not a mob. Even still, I only see it go through maybe 1 out of every 10 times, I get a better ratio next time. Chance is that something is blocking it, so far I've seen it go up with or without wards, so it's not those.

You're not the only one to have noticed that for sure, my illu isn't 80 yet, but I tested it quite a bit on beta trying to break it as much as I could. A friend was having trouble with it working (on live) the other day so I was helping test it... We could not get it to work if the person we cast it on was not within melee range of the attacker. That's the only thing we were able to do to make it not work consistently, which makes very little sense, but that's all I was able to come up with

I never even thought about testing it on a mob that was staying ranged, on beta.

I haven't used it as much as you have, but I have yet to see the 1/10 successes. Usually I cast it and nothing happens at all other than the recast timer makes it look like it's been cast.

I can confirm that if there is something that's playing with it, it's not wards. I was in a shaman-less group the other day and was experimenting with it every 5 min for fun. I never saw anything that looked like it was remotely working. This wasn't epic, just heroic instances, so I would think it would live long enough to see something. Nothing on the screen, nothing in the log.

I find it really useful WHEN it works, it can take a good Silverwing sized beating for some time. I've tested it a lot in raids and heroic groups, even just duoing, the 1:10 ratio seems about right or close enough at least.

Sometimes I do hear a resist noise, although I've never seen the on screen message. I find it unlikely this is a proc as surely doppleganger is a beneficial spell, which I have no procs for.

What's also annoying is when it does work I've yet to see it show as a maintained spell.

The icon it shows on the buff bar looks like the icon on your hotbar for it, it shows on the person you cast it on, not on yourself (the caster). It also shows an icon under the mob.

If we can determine exactly what causes it to not work, I bet it'd make it a lot easier for the devs to fix it.

I have tried a myriad of different ways to cast this, from targeting the mob, targeting the player, standing close, standing far; I can't figure out why it's not working. I doubt it's wards or anything because I've cast it on pull before and still nothing.

However, when it actually goes off it is pretty bad ass even at adept 3, I counted around 3 or 4 hits and over 10k dmg absorbed.

How are you getting the 10k dmg absorbed number? I'm not getting anything in my chat window.
