That's the new Veksar mage item.

Before you all get excited, it has the same wording as Vine-Wrapped Boots and Robe of Ancient Terrors. Meaning it is not true base damage, it's +spell damage.

It will stack with Mayong Orb, and be a useful option for those without Mayong Orb (depending on your current +spell) to pair alongside Praetor's Guard, but I highly doubt with our +spell caps it will be worth replacing either PG and certainly not Mayong Orb, if you have both.

Gratz Sorcerers, kinda.

I dont understand what you mean when you say the above item effects spell damage not base damage.

At the moment I am using PG, and the mastercrafted item, and am sitting around 757 spell dmg (possibly 100 more as the UI isnt showing +mental dmg adorns) with 84% spell crit.

This item wouldnt be a upgrade? Sorry I am a bit confused on the mechanics and how this works, I presume when it procs your spells do 10% more damage but this isnt the case?

Sadly never had mayongs orb

When it procs it gives you +spell damage (BoE). That damage is subject to the +spell cap. Since we cap alot of spells quickly and it is easy to get +spell gear, a 7 second 10% +spell boost is not even remotely as good as it looks.

Mayong Orb and Plasma Wand are procing TRUE base damage buffs. The buffs on them do not stack however. Bloodthirsty Choker is also a TRUE base damage item that stacks with everything.

I would probably place the new symbol as a strong 3rd behind Orb and PG, with Gassy Scepter behind it, unless you have a ton of +spell gear then maybe the mask will fall behind Scepter.

I'm hoping someone can test to see if its mislabeled, or if its really like VWB etc. Bloodthirsty Choker is worded almost the same as this item, yet it the Choker is base damage.

When I did my quick test against the wall, using a spell that I know I'm +BOE capped on, the plasma wand proc increases the damage listed in the text of the spell. I then took off the plasma wand and re-examined that same spell after the symbol proc and the listed damage didn't change.

The system is easy to understand, it's just pointlessly overcomplicated.

I noticed the same thing. Has anyone tested the mask yet to confirm it is only adding boe?
