Gear suggestions

new to the game here. recently hit tier5 on my Illy and Im wondering if there is any quest items out there that I should really be out to get in the coming levels.

Nothing really until 65.
Just keep collecting Int and Sta for the next 15 or so levels then there are quests like grizzfazzles (look it up on eq2i) and a couple other items you can get (nest of the great egg robe) but that's really it.

A lot of the good quests mage gear comes from the quests level 70 and above

It's not worth wasting too much time getting gear that will be replaced anyway. Do what Tangarth said and once you hit t8 questing and instances you'll find the loot you'll keep with you a while longer.

The Mastercrafted gear at those levels is OP compared to anything you can get quested, and the rare roots needed to make them are very cheap.

What does being in your bag have to do with anything? Even if there were good spell proc items for that level I wouldn't keep them

Cool guys, thx for the info. Its as i figured - xpxpxp until you get in the uper tiers then worry more about gear. Fortunately I grabbed my manastone already, and it is pretty hot.

I keep manastone and use it time to time. If its in my bag, then its there for a reason or i dont mention it.

For stuff you can do at a low level that is still useful at 80 I'd add a few more:
1) Lore & Legend quests for the master strikes, easier (and useful) to do while levelling
2) Bone Clasped Girdle (HQ)
3) Ports - You can never have too many. Call of Ro, Splitpaw shard, ...
4) Jboots - decent for getting about indoors (not as useful but I still drag em out now and then even as an 80 crafter - at 65% runspeed from memory even a mage can train ;) )
5) Tinkering or transmuting is cheaper (much) if done while you level.

Fishbone Earing (HQ). Click once when you log in, and you are good for any underwater stuffs for rest of the day.
