I wanted to get a current view of things with haste factored in:

1) Given a Mythical Epic geared Illusionist, does it now make more sense to put him in the scout group, haste the group, run the pet with TC and Tandem, and Tandem self + 2 mages out of group? (This has the sub-assumption that a scout group with our haste buff and IA is better off than our personal benefit from wiz and troub buffs)

2) For those of us who have a non-mythical epic collecting dust in our bags, is the overall raid dps still better off if we are in the mage group with wiz and troub procs running a pet(in most situations) with TC and tandem on pet and self tandem rather than scout group? (My parse numbers from SoH last night would tend to lead in this direction).

3) Get a second Illus. and do both 1 and 2.

Sorry if I don't quite get what you are asking. Are you asking what grp your pet will do most dps? Or raid dps?

What about a troub and wiz/lock in the scout group. TC + tandem on wiz/lock, tandem on self and pet. Tandem on mages out of group for the rest?

One more thing, why would you run a pet if you are in mage group and don't have mythical?

There should be no more "mage group"/"scout group." Our dps groups run with 2 troubs 2 illusionists and filler scout/mage classes.

Basically, what group (assuming 1 illusionist) would you put him/her in these days to maximize Raid DPS....got my personal DPS down pretty well, but always have to hand out the pacifiers when I go that route (you know..."I'm loosing 5000dps because the Illus wont buff me" and such.....)

Perhaps maybe thats the better way to look at it....maybe the right answer is a troub, wiz/lock, illus, scout as the core then fill around that? May play with that config this week and see how it works out.

One more thing, why would you run a pet if you are in mage group and don't have mythical?

I would wonder why, in most fights, you wouldn't. Pet with self and pet tandem and TC on pet in mage group with troub and wiz should be > tandems on mages and no pet (refering back to the link in my OP that Pinski did the analysis on. Certainly there are fights this doesn't hold true for, but I try for the general case.


So is the general concensus these days to go with the "hybrid" group approach? (guess I can go search that one, but hey, already typed the question...). I can see where that might maximize haste, IA, TC and tandem buffs to the point it should be higher overal dps than a non-mythical illus using a buffed pet....mythical just makes it better from there.

I don't believe that. Unless your mages are uber slack TC+tandem on them rather then pet = more dps. But I could be wrong.

Just to add, I mean more dps for raid, not your own dps.

I did a little bit of testing regarding Tandem cause I foolishly thought my pet would proc it nearly as much as me. It procced for about as much as a Troub, less than Fury. So there will always be someone worth buffing over your own pet if my test was accurate. So true. Tho it's not rangers that bitch most in my guild.
