If you have 1 damage spell at M1, and the other at Adp3, while both are M2 choices, the obvious choice is to make the Adp3 into the M2 choice, even if the normal choice is to get the other damage spell to M2, but that's because you generally have that one at less than M1 already.

Basically if you have Beam M1, get Brainclot M2, your damage will increase a lot more than getting Beam M2, unless of course you already have Brainclot M1, then get Beam M2, no matter what.
