Default Question about Sandstorm in MC

I'm still learning these endgame instances, and was hoping to get some feedback from the community about this fight in particular. I've run this a dozen times now with not much of a problem, but the other day was in a group that just couldn't put this guy down. The group make up was:

Illy
Pally
Fury
Necro
Mystic
Monk

The pally had no problems with aggro, but the issue was definitely DPS. We wiped to this guy about 10 times before I called it enough. Almost every fight I found myself mezzing up to 5 of those remenants (which was tough enough given that we only have three mezzes, and these adds aren't linked). I think 5 remenants was my limit before one resisted and put me behind.

Anyway, the group composition seems like there should be plenty of DPS, but this guys HP was dropping REALLY slow. I heard mention that he has a stoneshield, and I was wondering if anyone here knows about it. Can it be removed? Which class can do that?

Also, what is a reasonable limit for an Illy on keeping those adds mezzed? I'm hoping I'm performing on par by keeping 5 of them mezzed...I'm used to Sandstorm dropping by 4 at the very most, and more often 3.

ok, NVM on Sandstorm. I finally found what I was looking for in another forum section. I am still curious what the max number of adds that an Illy can safely manage. I'm also curious why the hell the group couldn't just DPS him down before the 5th add.

I guess another mention was that every time the rememants spawned, they spawned as 2, then 2 more, then 1. I think previously I had only seen them spawning in 1s.

You could kill them maybe instead of the named first? And if you as an Illusionist can't handle 5 adds, you're a fucking joke. Once all 5 are locked down, you can use exactly 1 mez to keep them all locked down, if you can't then you have issues that nobody here can help you with. This still leaves you with enough time to lock down a 6th with that same mez without issues, a 7th with the short term mez, and an 8th with our encounter mez. 8 is what you should be able to lock down.

OK, I know where I'm going wrong then. I think I'm being too aggresive with the mezzes (hitting them with mez before the mez breaks), where it sounds like I should wait until one breaks free and then mez him.

When someone in 70-79 chat cries for help with the final step of the Berserker fabled epic, you should volunteer if just for the learning. Depending on the quality of the group, you can easily end up with 5 or 6 untended yellow adds and will be expected to keep the situation under control.

And once the dude gets his update, don't let anyone zone out; work it down till all are killed without a wipe.

Thank you for the info! This would be great for the practice. I think I know where I'm going wrong, and it's all in "premature mezzing." I just need to trust my mezzes a bit more.

they spawn in 2's so I don't know how you got 5 or 7.

Best bet is to mez them, save your shit and burn the named, hit him hard from the start before he stoneskins. Adds have a lot of hp, killing them isn't as effective as mezing even in good groups

The first and second round came in two's, the next wave came in one's.

**shrugs**

I thought it was random; I've seen them pop one at a time on the first round too.

Anyway, I'm trusting my mez timer more and it's working out much better. I was being WAY too aggressive on the mezzes.

The groups dps sucked you should never get that many adds

handling 5 that are grouped is freaking simple though

If you do it correct on this mob you will get 0 adds

cause the adds are grouped on sandstorm, oh wait no, no they arent.
