Well I did it, I made the switch from coercer to illusionist

I'm only level 64 atm so I'm not raiding yet...
It's amazing just how different these two classes are.
I have noticed, however, how little burst damage we have vs the coercer.
I'm still going through all my spell lines and learning everything but I have a few questions.
1) What buffs do you have on ( you and your pet )? Do you use the Synergism (or equiv) buff on yourself and drop one of the group buffs? Do you always use your pet?
2) On a typical solo mob what spells do you cast in what order? My coercer had 2 major reactive damage spells that would give me amazing burst damage. My coercer has none except for the Synergism line if I choose to use it and it's not every time of course. Here is my current spell casts ( again, I've only been messing with it for about 2 hours once I finished the betrayal last night and got new spells ):
Pull with Brainburst ( long range, have improved verion of this [AA] so it does all damage in like 8 seconds )
Root
Devour Hope ( arcane resist debuff )
Tell pet to attack ( ranged )
[ If target is a caster ] Drain Thought
Construct of Reason
Sap Will ( long stun ) - This is to let the Construct of Reason get some good attacks in before he's obliterated.

Shimmering Beam
Brainburst
Shimmering Beam
Embolism ( DD + mez )
Shimmering Beam
Repeat as necessary and when CDs are up.
If target is a solo ^, this method does indeed take a bit of time. My coercer would just wreck things by now even without a pet.
What am I missing?
