Pet vs Conc Buffs
This all is meant to apply to raiding not single group.
So I'm often placed in the off-tank group especially now with summer on and a chronic shortage of bards.
What I'm trying to decide is which is better, to use all my conc for buffs, or to have my pet up.
I always use 2 conc slots on Tandem for myself and the coercer in the MT group.
My group consists of Pally, 3 healers, swashy/assasin and me.
The scout is obviously getting IA and I usually end up with TC on the plate healer to speed them up.
That leaves me 3 conc slots to play with.
We usually have 2 or 3 other mages (almost always 2 conjurors and #3 will be a Wiz if we have the third).
So I can pull out my pet and use the 3 conc slots or I can tandem the casters and/or haste the scout.
From watching the parses dynamism just doesn't do much in the way of dps on the conjurors or wizard. They just don't cast enough spells for it to add up like it does on chanters. The haste on the scout I'm not sure how to quantify. My pet seems to add about 600-1000 dps depending on the fight. There is also the threat reduction of tandem to take into account although our conjurors don't seem to have issues with pulling agro.
Opinions on which way to help the raid the most? I got into this discussion with one of my guild mates when he noticed I had my pet out instead of buffing. I'm trying for max raid benefit, not max personal benefit. But it seems like I'm adding more overall dps to the raid via pet than buffs.

Re: Pet vs Conc Buffs
With the group you specified, my buffs, personally, would be...
Haste on Scout
Haste on Pally
IA on scout
TC on Defiler/Mystic...unless they won't give me HPs..then plate healer.
Tandem on me
Tandem on Coercer
Tandem on Summoner in whatever group that casts the most, and doesn't die as often if close.

Re: Pet vs Conc Buffs
I would also like to know this myself i cant see how hasting 1 scout 1 tank and tandem on 2 other casters is going to be more dps then are pet giving that the stuns are DD now and the pet seems to cast the stunes more.
If we use the pet is it hurting the raids dps?

Our pet doesnt' do 600-1000 DPS. It does like 200-300 in your group/raid.

Re: Pet vs Conc Buffs
I'm not a big fan of the pet, it dies a lot in ae's, and it just doesn't compare to putting Tandem on a caster.
Plus the dehate that also proc's with Tandem will help if your casters are near the top of the parse.
I don't think theres ever a time I'd entertain using three spare concentration by having out my pet. Unless of course you have your mythical, but that is altogether a different story seeing as you don't use concentration.

The de-hate won't help your casters not pull aggro.

Re: Pet vs Conc Buffs
Why won't the de-hate help the casters not pull agro? Isn't it essentially getting rid of around 1k of hate every other spell?
As for the pet dps, without pet I do around 3-3.2K with the pet out and attacking right from start at range I do 3.6-4k (no mythical, mostly fabled, ad3 and about half mastered, 55%crit and around 700 +spell). Am I missing something else adding to that? it's fairly constant for me to see that much gain with pet. Or is he extra debuffing to help me or something? (do our pets debuff? and does it stack with our own debuff spells?)

Re: Pet vs Conc Buffs
Oh and for my pet this is for RoK T1/T2 type raids, we aren't beyond that yet, perhaps his dps will go down as we start to get more into orange and deep orange mobs.

Re: Pet vs Conc Buffs
Well considering how much damage it hits for, and how much de-aggro there is attached to it, obviously they won't get very much de-aggro from it since hate:damage is 1:1 ratio. Oh, not to mention 48% doesn't mean 48% of casts, it means 48% chance to go based on a base of 3s cast time.
