Once at the start of the zone to get a pet.

Re: Mythical Change
PE is a maintained pet that works very similar to charm. You can only use it on non-named targets and it scales them to your level and makes them pretty worthless (for the most part).
The only thing that's nice about PE is if you find a bard type mob, you can PE it and get the little special buff for your group.
But to go into detail a little more, you can't just "cast at the start of the zone". Take PR for instance, you must find a trash mob in PR to PE (which I hear there are some, but who goes down that way?). You must get within 20m of it (spell indicator does not currently work on PE, so most times you have to aggro to get within range). Now you finally have A pet.
Let's start the raid!
First named let's say you catch aggro and die. Now you have no pet. You cannot simply "recast" your pet, you must find another trash mob, PE it and return to the fight (let's assume that your raid supports randomly running through raid zones so you can attempt to PE something mid-fight).
This is just a minor example of why you can say this is overpowered, but really, it's practically useless in raids.
Want to head to VP? Sure, let's PE a trash mob and hope we don't die the entire time we're there. You'd want the extra DPS on a named, but if that named happens to AE, you have no pet until you find another trash mob to PE. (and if you're PEing (haha, that sounds funny) mid-fight, you're really worthless).
Anyway, all that to say, don't get too up in arms about it. It's something that we're getting, but it's nothing to be jealous of.

Re: Mythical Change
You know my pet NEVER dies in VP. MAYBE on Milyex when he insists on running in every two seconds. So don't fuck up a lot and your pet will be just fine.

Your pet dies that much? I agree sometimes an ae can take out a pet but sheesh its not that bad.
Almost all zones have trash mobs that you can PE, heck you can PE the skellys that are on almost EVERY named in tpr. I will agree its not as easy as the illusy pet bu its still pretty awsome.
Coercers are not overpowered compared to illusy's tho imo.

Re: Mythical Change
A good coercer is able to outparse an illusionist with the same gear. Currently the Coercer rulez.

While that may be true, Illusionists usually get into caster groups over Coercers. I've only ever seen 1 coercer per raid and they're always in the MT group.
