I had this macro'd with POM in beta, but I was concerned about the cast times wasting seconds off DR while I casted POM...worth it to use both together? Just use them both when they're up?

I'd use them separately personally. You're better off having more dps over the entire fight, rather than just for a huge 20s burst, especially since it doesn't affect PoM.
