What sets an Illusionist appart?

DPS aside, what makes a great illy? What sets the great appart from the rest? Just generally speaking, not asking for a "Greatnes for Dummies" guide

tbh, Pinksi, my question was more on the player side of things. I know my abilities quite well, maybe not to the same extent as you, and I do know what to wear, etc...

I want to improve as a player and illusionist. And, as far as I know, you & Lithin, and a couple others around here are the best there is. I want new goals beside <insert zomg-uber-fucking-rare fabled drop here>. I'm sure gear is not everything.
